Chapter 330 Preparing for Tourism
Miaofeng Mountain, an ancient mountain in the Beijing area, still retains its original appearance.
It has high mountains and steep roads, but because it is close to the capital, there have been signs of human activities since ancient times.
In addition to the hunters who go into the mountains to hunt and the herbal farmers who collect herbs, there are also many temples and believers who go into the mountains to pray to the gods and worship Buddha.
Now this place is not yet the famous "Miaogaofeng Scenic Area" in later generations.
In his previous life, Liu Zhiye once brought his wife and children to this place for a visit and had very fond memories of it.
What surprised Liu Zhiye most was that Miaofeng Mountain, the future scenic spot, would from then on be under the administrative jurisdiction of Liujiazhuang.
Indeed, this is also related to the fact that the tourism industry has not yet emerged. There are countless scenic spots and historical sites like Miaofeng Mountain in China.
However, nowadays they are often labeled as poor and backward. The beauty and uniqueness of these places are not yet known to the world, and their stories and charm are not yet appreciated by the world.
Liu Zhiye already had a blueprint to build tourism into a new pillar industry for Liujiazhuang. Although the time was not yet ripe, he had quietly begun to lay the groundwork.
For example, in Liujiazhuang, a series of measures including afforestation, environmental improvement, sewage system construction, sewage treatment and garbage management, as well as the development and branding of characteristic agriculture, not only comprehensively optimize the village environment, but also lay a solid foundation for the future development of tourism.
Liujiazhuang's characteristic agriculture will surely become a major highlight of tourism in the future.
Whether it is the fragrant rice of "Beijing West Rice", the sweet and delicious "Beijing Watermelon", or the gorgeous "Liujiazhuang Cherry", they will attract countless tourists to stop and taste them.
The exotic flowers and fruits of "Huaguo Mountain", the delicious taste of "Liujiazhuang Shengfang Crab", and the fruits and vegetables that are like spring all year round in the "Liujiazhuang Greenhouse" will make visitors linger.
What is even more exciting is that in the future Liujiazhuang will vigorously develop "Liujiazhuang High Mountain Green Tea". This unique agricultural product will surely add a new business card for Liujiazhuang.
In addition, based on the experience gained from the famous rural TV series "Country Love", Liu Zhiye has doubled his confidence in developing rural agricultural tourism in the future.
At worst, Liujiazhuang can just shoot a TV series spanning 20 years to carry out brainwashing propaganda.
Although Liu Zhiye is full of confidence and determined to revitalize Liujiazhuang's tourism industry in the future, he still has an indescribable regret in his heart.
Liujiazhuang, the land he deeply loves, although it has beautiful natural scenery, lacks profound cultural heritage, which undoubtedly limits its development potential.
He knows very well that if a place's tourism industry is to develop steadily, it must not only have beautiful natural scenery, but also rich cultural connotations and historical heritage to attract tourists.
Therefore, while planning the tourism industry in Liujiazhuang, Liu Zhiye was also thinking about how to inject more cultural atmosphere into this land and make it radiate more charming charm.
Liujiazhuang unexpectedly expanded its sphere of influence to the Miaofeng Mountain area, and this move just filled in an important piece of the puzzle for the future development of Liujiazhuang's tourism industry.
The addition of Miaofeng Mountain will undoubtedly inject cultural attractions into Liujiazhuang's tourism industry.
Liu Zhiye is full of confidence in this. He firmly believes that with the unique charm of Miaofeng Mountain, Liujiazhuang will be able to create a scenic spot comparable to China's top tourist destinations in the future, attracting countless tourists from home and abroad to visit.
Although the straight-line distance between Liujiazhuang and Miaofeng Mountain is only a dozen miles, there are rolling mountains and steep hills between the two places. The road is winding and steep, and only pedestrians can traverse it on foot. It is difficult for vehicles and horses to pass.
The third uncle and the eldest uncle looked at each other, their eyes full of confusion.
Finally, the uncle broke the silence. He frowned and said with confusion in his tone: "The scenery here is indeed pleasant, and the stream is so clear that you can see the bottom, but...but it is too far away. It's useless to see the mountain..."
"We can't let a living person suffocate to death in seconds!" Liu Zhiye smiled and said, "Then let's build a road, overcome the difficulties, and open up a passage between Liujiazhuang and Miaofeng Mountain area."
Fourth uncle Liu Yuanqi, the village's financial manager, frowned when he heard the proposal.
Building a road? In the mountains? He knew that this would mean huge capital investment and endless consumption of resources. "Ah... is this really necessary?" he asked doubtfully, "Just to grow tea, do we have to build a mountain road that is more than ten miles long?"
The other people present were all members of the Liu family. They nodded one after another, saying, "That's right, that's right. This is simply not worth the effort. Building a ten-mile mountain road is by no means as simple as building a road on a plain..."
Liu Zhiye also understood why these people opposed it. After all, they lacked the foresight of later generations and were unable to see the huge potential of tea cultivation.
Furthermore, in those days, people had not yet formed the concept of tourism consumption.
"What? I need money to visit this broken mountain here?" He will spit in your face.
Although he understood it, he did not give up the grand blueprint in his heart.
He knew very well that as long as he succeeded in the tea-growing and tourism industries, even if other industries in Liujiazhuang ran into difficulties in the future, the villagers of Liujiazhuang would be able to rely on these two industries to live a stable life.
Liu Zhiye stood in front of the crowd, with no better way to do than to try his best to paint a blueprint for the future. "Today, most people still cannot enjoy the elegance of tea tasting, because their lives have not yet reached that level."
"But people's lives will not remain in poverty forever. Their living standards will only get better and better. Sooner or later, one day..."
"If you don't believe me, just think about it. In the short ten years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, compared with life before the founding of the People's Republic of China, hasn't there been a tremendous change?"
"Although there have been many natural disasters in the past few years, the people have survived. The days ahead will only get better and better..."
"In addition, growing tea is only part of the equation. The key is to develop the vast new area of the village."
"The administrative area of our village is vast, stretching for hundreds of kilometers, but the truly prosperous core area is limited to the original Liujiazhuang area of more than ten miles.
Over time, we will reach a plateau in our development, so in order to continue to prosper, we must look to untapped areas for new growth.”
Hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement. Over the years, the rapid development of Liujiazhuang has been inseparable from the hard work of these village committee cadres.
After years of training and tempering, they are no longer what they used to be and have acquired certain abilities. These cadres are the pride of Liujiazhuang and role models for the villagers.
Therefore, Liu Zhiye’s remarks were not unfamiliar to them, but they were limited by the cognition of the past era and had never thought deeply about them.
However, they are still skeptical about joining the tourism industry in the future. In today's China, except for a few tourist attractions that charge fees, it is unheard of that you have to pay to travel elsewhere.
Moreover, China has many famous scenic spots and places with beautiful mountains and rivers. To be honest, Miaofeng Mountain is far inferior to the "Five Mountains". And now people can enter and exit these places freely!
Liu Zhiye firmly said to everyone: "What is impossible today does not necessarily mean it will be impossible in the future. Perhaps in a dozen years, or perhaps in a few decades, everything will be possible."
"We will not invest in tourism development right away, as this is not realistic. Instead, we will do it slowly, improving the surrounding environment bit by bit, starting with transportation..."
…………
Liu Zhiye did not let Liujiazhuang immediately plunge into the tourism development boom. Tourism is also a systematic project, which is not an easy task.
Instead, they chose to take steady steps and gradually improve the surrounding environment. The transportation to Miaofeng Mountain was put on the agenda as the top priority...
Miaofeng Mountain area is located in MTG District, Jingcheng City, at the junction of HD District, CP District and MTG District, Jingcheng City, about 55 kilometers from the city center.
The Miaofeng Mountain Scenic Area in later generations is famous for its "ancient temples, strange pines and grotesque rocks". It has grotesque rocks, ancient pines, beautiful environment, magnificent scenery, and a vegetation coverage rate of over 90%.
It also has the largest traditional folk temple fair in North China and is the most culturally rich scenic spot around the capital, integrating humanities and natural scenery.
Miaofeng Mountain belongs to the Taihang Mountains. The main peak is 1291 meters above sea level. It is the highest peak in Xiaoxishan Mountain in western Beijing and the closest thousand-meter peak to the capital.
Miaofeng Mountain is elegant and steep, with lush vegetation, clear springs and waterfalls, dancing butterflies and fragrant flowers. It is known as "the first fairy mountain in Beijing."
Jinding Miaofeng Mountain is one of the famous "Eight Peaks" in Beijing and is well-known in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei for its "Jinding Temple Fair".
Miaofeng Mountain Niangniang Temple Fair, also known as Miaofeng Mountain Niangniang Temple Incense Fair, is an ancient traditional folk custom and cultural activity in the capital area.
It originated in the Ming Dynasty. The Bixia Yuanjun Temple (Niangniang Temple) on the top of Miaofeng Mountain was once a holy place famous far and wide in northern China.
Bixia Yuanjun is one of the gods with the most believers among the Chinese people. Miaofeng Mountain Niangniang Temple Fair is known as "the most popular incense in the world" and is the most influential folk activity in the old capital and northern provinces and cities. After Emperor Jiaqing of the Ming Dynasty ascended the throne, he named it "Imperial Huiji Temple" and gave it a plaque with the temple name written by the emperor, which made Miaofeng Mountain Niangniang Temple reach the highest status.
The Azure Dragon and White Tiger Gods are enshrined as guardians in the gate of the Niangniang Temple, which is also the main gate of the temple. The main buildings in the Niangniang Temple include Linggan Palace, Guanyin Hall, Wenchang Hall, Ksitigarbha Hall, Yue Lao Hall, Three Churches, Medicine King Hall, and Wang Sannainai Hall.
There is Huixiang Pavilion on the mountain behind the temple. The main hall is dedicated to Dongyue Emperor, the east and west halls and the east and west backyards are dedicated to the God of Wealth, and the mountain gate hall is dedicated to the guardian boys and girls.
The main hall in the courtyard hundreds of meters above the back of Huixiang Pavilion is dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the east hall is for the Three Officials, and the west hall is for Zhenwu Emperor.
On the east side of the main temple is the God of Happiness, Emperor Tang Minghuang, the founder of the literary and artistic world.
The main gate of the temple has three bays. The round arched door in the middle is inlaid with a white marble plaque with the five large characters "敕建惠吉寺" (Emperor Jiaqing's imperial decree) engraved on it.
There is a gate on each side of the Shanmen Hall, built in the form of a gatehouse. According to the rules, whether it is a pilgrimage party or pilgrims, they should enter from the east gate and exit from the west gate, not through the main gate.
On both sides of the mountain gate hall stand a golden-armored guardian deity, who are the guardian gods of Taoism. The Azure Dragon God is in the east and the White Tiger God is in the west. They are both mighty guardian beasts.
The main hall has a hard-roofed roof with a large ridge made of glazed tiles. There are hips at both ends of the ridge. In front and below the four eaves, there are small animals such as immortals, dragons, phoenixes, lions, Pegasus, and seahorses.
During the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, a temple fair was held from the first to the fifteenth day of the fourth lunar month every year, and the mountain became famous because of it.
The temple was destroyed during the Anti-Japanese War and the temple fair declined.
After the war, only a few ruins remained. It was not until 86 that the relevant departments organized the reconstruction, and it was not until 88 that the scenic spot was established and reopened to tourists.
In later times, when Liu Zhiye visited here, he saw the magnificent complex of buildings which was the rebuilt Golden Summit of Miaofeng Mountain.
Of course, only a few ancient buildings have been well preserved during these years, and the others have had to be rebuilt or repaired.
However, there is no rush to repair the ancient buildings. Liu Zhiye plans to wait until the mid-to-late 1970s before starting this work.
Of course, the scenery of Miaofeng Mountain Forest Park is equally breathtaking in its later presentation. In addition to the rich cultural relics, its natural scenery is also unique.
In the Miaofeng Mountain Forest Park of later generations, there are more than 6,000 acres of world-famous Miaofeng Mountain alpine roses planted, which are known as "the best in North China."
The fifth of the famous “Twelve Scenic Spots of Miaofeng Mountain”, “Purple Rose with Dew”, praises the roses of Miaofeng Mountain.
One year, when Liu Zhiye's family came to visit, it was June, and it was his wife's strong request that they come.
Because she had watched the promotional video on a certain audio platform and was very interested in the place because of its extreme beauty and magnificence.
Every June, thousands of acres of roses bloom in Miaofeng Mountain. Miaofeng Mountain Forest Park becomes a mountain of flowers, a sea of flowers, and a world of flowers. Purple roses are everywhere, filled with refreshing floral fragrance, making people intoxicated and reluctant to leave.
The mountains here are vast, the hills are green and the waters are beautiful, and the hundreds of acres of grassland are full of vitality, like a beautiful painting.
Hiking through the hundred-acre meadow, you can feel the fresh air and pleasant climate. Wild flowers such as Fruticosa frutescens, Euphorbia obesa, Lilac, Silver Lotus, and Rhododendron suffruticosa are everywhere, which is very beautiful.
Miaofeng Mountain Forest Park is a tourist destination that combines getting close to nature, health and leisure, flower and fruit viewing, mountain vacation, and summer escape.
Hidden in this scenic area is a high mountain cherry orchard covering an area of more than 200 acres.
The cherries here are unique. They grow on mountains at higher altitudes and enjoy plenty of sunshine and pure air.
Every late spring and early summer, the cherry trees are loaded with crystal clear fruits, as red as agate and as sweet as first love.
Tourists come here one after another, wandering through the cherry orchard and feeling the gift from nature.
They gently picked cherries one by one, savoring the sweet and sour taste, as if they were in a dreamy wonderland.
Here, it is not only a feast for the taste buds, but also a baptism of the soul.
In addition, the largest coverage area here is the virgin forest. There are about 5000 acres of virgin forest in the park. It has a high forest coverage rate, rich tree species, high negative oxygen ion content, and fresh air in the forest, making it a natural oxygen bar.
In addition, Miaofeng Mountain is extremely rich in wild natural resources, with more than 600 species of woody plants alone and more than 20 types of high-quality medicinal materials.
The area around Miaofeng Mountain was once the ancient Beijing West Road, with "Xishan Road" as the main line, connecting various branch roads running north and south, among which the Middle Road, South Road and North Road were its main components.
Countless magical stories such as the ancient road, hoof pits, west wind, and skinny horses are scattered or left on both sides of the ancient road, which can deeply feel the changes of the times and the footsteps of history.
There is also a wide and open viewing platform on the top of the mountain, from which you can overlook the towering mountains in the distance and the vast capital city. It is a place where you can see all the other mountains in a glimpse.
In addition, the area around Miaofeng Mountain not only has cultural relics and natural scenery complementing each other, but also carries the weight of revolutionary history.
This place was once one of the anti-Japanese bases in western Beijing, and the war years left a deep mark here.
Every piece of land and every mountain seem to be telling the story of those years of heroic struggle.
In his future tourism planning, Liu Zhiye clearly positioned these old revolutionary areas as new development sites for "red tourism".
…………
After persuading the village committee cadres, Liu Zhiye decided to take action himself and lead the team to explore the future route to Miaofeng Mountain.
He also went to the present-day Golden Summit of Miaofeng Mountain and looked at the sea of clouds in the distance.
He couldn't help but sigh in his heart. Everything has changed and people have changed. He didn't know whether his hometown and relatives would still exist in this life, and whether he could meet his wife from his previous life again.
"Maybe, I can go look for them..." This thought flashed through his mind like lightning, instantly igniting the fire in his heart and making his heart beat faster as if it was about to burst out of his body.
Although Liu Zhiye knew very well that this was not the world of his previous life, he still held on to a glimmer of hope, looking forward to reuniting with his relatives from his previous life in this world.
Even just a glance at the small mountain village where he grew up in poverty and backwardness in his past life would be the greatest comfort to his heart.
Because he was too lonely.
"Zhiye, what are you thinking about?" Brother-in-law Liu Fusheng said, bumping his arm.
Liu Zhiye came back to his senses and said calmly: "I didn't think about anything, but the scenery in front of me was too charming, and I couldn't help but immerse myself in it."
“Haha, I really don’t understand you. What’s so beautiful about these vast mountains…” Liu Fusheng smiled and shook his head. He grew up in these mountains since he was a child and has long been accustomed to the scenery before him.
Liu Zhiye chuckled and glanced at him, with a teasing smile on his lips: “Brother-in-law, believe it or not, but in less than forty years, everything in front of you will make you feel extremely precious.”
Liu Fusheng couldn't imagine how the world would develop in the future.
Although Beijing is vast, it will be hard to find such primitive corners in the future. By then, in the international metropolis of reinforced concrete, people will miss this rare tranquility.
"Although I still don't understand why you do this, I support you." Although Liu Fusheng was still confused about Liu Zhiye's plan, he expressed his support for him without hesitation.
Liu Fusheng's admiration for his brother-in-law is beyond words. Years of practice have shown that Liu Zhiye has never made a wrong decision.
Liu Zhiye nodded slightly, turned his gaze to Liu Fusheng, and said solemnly: "Third Uncle and other older generations are old and still stick to their posts, but in the future we will need the younger generation of cadres to take over."
"The future of Liujiazhuang depends on us, brother-in-law. Are you ready to lead the whole village to move forward in a big way?"
