Chapter 36 You Are Different From Them
If only parents could see.
You should feel comforted knowing that you have lived a good life in both lives.
Melancholy for the time it takes to get a piece of candy.
Chen Hui put away the remaining candy and regained his strength.
We went to Chen Guogang's house and asked him to help repair the roof and walls.
"No problem. I'll go to your house tomorrow to check the extent of the damage and estimate how much materials are needed. I'll go to town and bring the materials back and help you with it."
"It just so happens that the weather is suitable these few days, so it can be done in half a day."
Chen Guogang and Wang Hongmei are kind-hearted people, and they had just received help from Chen Hui a few days ago.
Things went as expected.
However, when Chen Hui said he wanted to pay Chen Guogang his wages, he was scolded by Wang Hongmei.
"How much wealth did your parents leave for you? Why are you so anxious to give it away? Can't you keep it for your future life?"
"We won't take your money. If you dare to eat for free after we get married, we'll kick you out with a broom."
Chen Hui smiled helplessly.
Wang Hongmei is a nice person, but unfortunately she has a big mouth.
After arranging everything from getting the furniture to repairing the house, Chen Hui went to the beach to take a look.
The women who went to the beach to catch seafood have all left, and the tide has obviously risen a bit.
It’s too late today, and I have an appointment with An Wenjing to go fishing early tomorrow morning.
Chen Hui did not try to be a trend-setter. He turned around and went home, brushed his teeth, took a shower, and went to bed.
The old quilt under the straw mat became soft and fragrant after being exposed to the sun.
Clean pillowcases and sheets are extra comfortable to touch your skin.
Chen Hui slept very soundly that day. As he was tired from climbing the mountain the day before, he almost overslept the next day.
When I changed my clothes and shoes and hurried out, An Wenjing had already brought An Wenyi over here.
"Brother-in-law! Any candy?"
When An Wenyi saw Chen Hui, he raised his two thin and short arms and shook them excitedly.
"Sugar, sugar, sugar. All you know is eating candy."
Chen Hui complained, then went back to the house with a smile and stuffed a few candies into his pocket.
Then he closed the door and went to meet An Wenjing.
"Brother-in-law! I was very good today. I even helped mom light the fire this morning."
As soon as he arrived, An Wenyi raised his little face and began to take credit.
"So well-behaved? Then can you make a fire?" Chen Hui asked with a smile.
Adding firewood to the stove to start a fire is a technical job.
People with better skills use less firewood and make a stronger fire.
Not only will your poor skills waste firewood, but a disagreement will also make the stove cold.
"Uh, no, it's burned out." An Wenyi stuck out his tongue, a little embarrassed.
"How dare you take credit for it? You're quite honest."
"Your sister and I will go catch snails later, and you just stay on the shore and play obediently. Remember?"
Chen Hui took out two candies and handed them to her.
"Hey, I remember it!"
"As long as I have candy to eat, I'll be a good kid who will listen to anything you say." An Wenyi took the candy and said with a smile.
"This is a fashionable saying. Where did you learn it from?"
"My mother said that to her yesterday, and she learned it from me."
"This child is really smart. He will be able to go to primary school in two years."
Chen Hui smiled and pinched An Wenyi's face.
Kindergartens are not yet universal, and children in villages and towns go directly to village and town primary schools when they reach age.
"I don't want to go to elementary school, I want to play at home!"
"Shut up!"
"Oh."
An Wenyi gave a timid, ingratiating smile.
"My mom and I were helpless against her, but you managed to cure her." An Wenjing smiled and took An Wenyi's hand.
Three people arrived late.
When we arrived at the beach, several women who often come to the beach were already searching among the rocks with buckets and bamboo baskets. "Don't go over there, they've searched almost everything over there."
"Come with me, let's go to the other side."
Chen Hui pointed to the right.
He gave An Wenyi two more candies, told her not to run around, and walked over there.
"But the reef over there is very big, and the waves are also strong. Under normal circumstances, there are relatively few snails." An Wenjing said, following Chen Hui.
"It's because everyone thinks this way that it's worth going there."
Chen Hui pointed to the other side, where there were already seven or eight women tossing around in the rocks.
In contrast, there was no one where Chen Hui was heading.
"Okay! I listen to you!"
As An Wenjing spoke, she walked forward carefully on the rocks.
Chen Hui walked in front, and if they stepped on unstable rocks, he would give a warning or reach out to hold An Wenjing's hand.
"Ah! Brother Chen Hui, look at this!"
An Wenjing pulled down a particularly large oyster snail from the bottom of a reef.
He happily handed it to Chen Hui to see.
"Look under the stone again." Chen Hui reminded with a smile.
An Wenjing turned her head to observe and soon saw something.
He stepped with his feet split, bent down, and inserted the pliers into the crevice of the stone.
"A little to the left." Chen Hui reminded.
An Wenjing nodded, and with precise movements, she picked a crab out from the crevice of the stone.
"Wow! That's it."
Chen Hui made a gesture to keep quiet, and An Wenjing immediately stopped talking.
Covering her mouth, she looked back and saw a few women in the distance chatting about family matters while walking among the rocks.
With a smile on his face, he put the crabs into the bucket, looked at Chen Hui and whispered:
"My mother said this morning that the women in Chenjia Village who couldn't go up the mountain would go to the sea. Look at me now, am I very similar to them?"
Chen Hui shook his head.
I turned over a reef and caught a few shrimps hiding underneath and put them into a bucket.
"You are different from them. They have to come here because of the pressure of life."
"When we get married, you can raise chickens and plant flowers at home, and I will take care of the money-making."
As she was speaking, two more big snails entered An Wenjing's bucket.
Chen Hui also dug out two mantis shrimps from under another reef.
"By the way, the rabbit from yesterday was indeed pregnant, and we have already raised it."
"The other one has also been cleaned, but I stewed the chicken yesterday, so I didn't cook it." An Wenjing said.
"Oh, I see."
"I'll take care of the money-making stuff, and you can arrange your life however you want."
Chen Hui stopped talking and stopped moving his hands.
Staring at the sea in a trance.
This was the first time that he felt the presence of prey just by standing on the beach without going into the sea.
"Brother Chen Hui, what's wrong?" An Wenjing climbed over two rocks and looked up to see Chen Hui still standing there.
He came over with a bucket and asked with concern.
"Take all your things. I want to go to the sea."
As Chen Hui spoke, he poured everything in his bucket into An Wenjing's bucket.
Take out the net bag you brought from your pocket.
Without saying a word, he took off his shirt and trousers and put them in his bucket.
"Eh" An Wenjing felt a little embarrassed.
He looked away and asked, "Why do you suddenly want to go to the sea?"
"Living by the sea, you will feel uncomfortable if you don't relax for a day."
"You touch the snail for a while, I'll be up soon."
As Chen Hui spoke, he put on gloves, grabbed the net bag and went into the sea.
With a sudden dive, he swam straight out into the deep sea.
