Chapter 16 Furry Bunny
The breeze blew through Horn's hair, blowing a few drops of coolness onto his neck, slowly sliding down along the raised scar.
In the eerie silence, the sound of metal friction was unusually loud when Horn drew out his half-sword.
Looking back at Jeanne, she covered her mouth and dared not move, but her eyes were still clear.
Fortunately, Jeanna was not affected. If anything happens, I can just ask Jeanna to help me.
After waiting for a second, Horn saw that the group of people were still swaying slowly in the fog. He immediately stepped forward and came near Jeshka. He didn't care about the fact that he couldn't wake up the sleepwalker, so he just went up and shouted.
"Dieska!"
Jeshka, who was originally swaying like a sleepwalker, was shocked all over. The confusion in his eyes disappeared, and he widened his eyes belatedly, with cold sweat gathering on his forehead at a speed visible to the naked eye.
As if some chain reaction had started, several young and strong men nearby woke up.
But they were not as calm as Jeshka, and they were so scared that they screamed on the spot.
"Quack, it's the Green Pied Piper, retreat!"
"Quack, the magic flute player must have blew us into unconsciousness, maybe he wants to force us to be his slaves!"
Before Horn could say anything, Father Cosse jumped out and slapped each of those who were shouting: "Why do you have such a good imagination? Don't you see that the Saint Grandson and the Saint Daughter are here? What are you afraid of!"
Horn looked at Father Cosset who was maintaining order and sighed softly.
It is pitiful that all parents are so caring. Even Father Cosse, who had vaguely guessed that Horn was a false grandson of the saint and was therefore somewhat uncooperative, showed extraordinary positivity in this matter.
But it has been more than ten years since then, and there is little hope.
Wait, Horn suddenly came to his senses. The villagers thought it was natural that Horn was not controlled because he was the grandson of the saint. But they knew their own business and they knew that he was just a person who pretended to be a saint and performed magic.
Jeanne was not affected by the Pied Piper because she was the king of monsters and demons, a genuine dog-devil, so it was normal for her to be immune to a small Pied Piper.
But how did he get rid of it? Was it because he held Jeanne's hand?
Before Horn could figure it out, he heard someone screaming, "Hey, what are you doing? Where are you going?"
A skinny boy of about fourteen or fifteen years old walked into the stream at some point and walked forward as if no one was around.
In the previous screams, almost all the trance-going people woke up, but this young man alone did not react at all, and in the end he even walked forward regardless of anything.
A companion at the side tried to grab him over the others, but Horn stopped him with one hand: "Don't call him, find a rope to tie around his waist and see where he goes."
Grabbing Jeanna's hand again, Horn whispered, "Jeanna, be careful. If there is any abnormal situation, don't hesitate and take action directly. Don't be afraid of accidental injury. This is to eliminate the demons. Mother will forgive you."
Leading by a rope, the boy moved forward in the stream, while Horn and others followed on the shore.
After walking for a distance, the trees on both sides became increasingly sparse, and the terrain gradually became higher. Horn and the others finally arrived in front of a mountain wall.
The open space in front of the mountain wall showed obvious signs of artificial logging. The nearby trees were uprooted, leaving behind large and small mounds of earth and pits, with only a few gray-black rocks left.
On the mountain wall, vines hang down like door curtains, but you can still see the dark hole inside through the gaps between the vines.
The melodious flute sound came from this cave entrance.
Compared to before, the sound of the flute was much clearer due to the closer distance.
It seems that the magic flute player is in the cave.
After tying the bewildered villager to a tree, the young and strong men gathered in front of the cave.
"Boss Jeshka, look, rabbits!" A young refugee pointed ahead and shouted. In front of the cliff, three furry little white rabbits were leisurely nibbling on the grass.
The nearest one was only seven or eight steps away.
This is so rare. They searched in the forest for more than half a day and didn't even find rabbit droppings, but here there is one.
Unable to suppress his joy, the young refugee took out his longbow and shot an arrow at the rabbit without waiting for anyone else to respond after he finished shouting.
Opportunity is fleeting. If you let them run away or hide in a hole, you never know when you can catch them.
"Ding——" The sound of the bowstring still echoed in my ears, and the arrow cut through the air and flew straight towards the white rabbit.
The tip of the arrow flashed with a cold light, and was about to penetrate the white rabbit's soft fur and pierce its blood vessels and heart, but in a flash, the rabbit jumped up on the spot, and kicked the wooden arrow with its powerful hind legs, directly knocking the wooden arrow off balance and sending it flying.
Before everyone could feel sorry, the white rabbit pushed off the ground again the moment it landed. This time everyone felt something was wrong.
It was too fast. The white rabbit jumped so fast that it seemed to be flying at a low altitude, turning into a white light and pounced on the archer's face.
"Ah——" A sharp scream came from the archer's mouth. He stretched out his hand to grab the white rabbit's ears, but he couldn't pull it away no matter what.
Long, curved claws stretched out from the delicate fur, pierced the archer's skin and flesh, and clamped his collarbone.
The three-lobed mouth opened, and the serrated fangs quickly bit open the archer's throat and sucked the archer's blood in big gulps.
Jeshka drew his bow and shot an arrow with lightning speed, but the white rabbit kicked the archer's chest gracefully.
He used the momentum to do a backflip, not only dodging the arrow, but his long claws on his forelimbs also cut off the archer's head.
A strong bloody smell instantly exploded, and the rising blood column fell to the ground like a fountain, dyeing the mist red. The snow-white rabbit fur was stained with scarlet blood, which condensed into small spikes at the end of the fur.
At this moment, the red eyes were staring at these uninvited guests.
"Quack, it's a monster, retreat quickly!"
"Quack, that monster bit us to death, probably to force our souls to become his slaves!"
"Why are you two here again!?"
Looking at the white rabbit in front of him, Horn was not in a hurry. He slowly drew out the long sword from his waist, raised his chin, and pointed the tip of the sword at it.
Seeing Horn's provocation, the white rabbit's beastly face showed no expression at all.
Its hind legs suddenly tensed up and it jumped up again. In a flash, a white light appeared in front of its eyes.
"Master Saint Grandson, be careful!"
"Hurry up and protect the Holy Grandson Master!"
His body remained motionless, and Horn smiled proudly: "Electricity is coming!"
Behind Horn, a flash of lightning suddenly exploded.
Lightning streaked across the sky and hit the white rabbit's body hard. The dazzling white light flashed continuously, making the originally gloomy forest brighter.
When everything returned to normal, the white rabbit, emitting the tempting aroma of meat, had fallen to the ground, its hind legs still twitching.
Horn returned the sword to its sheath gracefully. He didn't look at the fallen monster. He used his hands to tidy up his hair that was messed up by the wind: "Just a monster... Let Na help me!"
Two arcs of electricity once again streaked across the sky, knocking down two more flying and jumping magic rabbits.
Horn brushed the grass and dirt off his knees and got up from the ground awkwardly.
He coughed twice and put on a serious expression: "Jeanna, my saint and knight, I order you to immediately clear out these rabbit monsters and kill these devil's servants!"
"As you command, my lord."
"And you, take care of the body of this brave archer."
"As you command, Master Saint Grandson."
For the next three minutes, there were thunder and lightning in the open space in front of the cliff, and the air was filled with the faint stench of lightning and the aroma of meat.
While Jeanna was cleaning up the magic rabbits, Horn was still thinking about the villager who was lured away by the flute sound at the beginning.
If the magic rabbits were blocking the entrance of the cave, his body should be on the ground now, but the footprints extended all the way to the entrance.
Why wasn't the man blown away by the flute attacked? Where did these rabbits come from? Was the Pied Piper raising these rabbits?
Putting aside these doubts for the moment, Horn walked up to the eight magic rabbits that were electrocuted.
There were four big and four small ones in total, and the whole family was neatly arranged, emitting a faint aroma of meat, which made many people's stomachs start to growl.
This monster meat is extremely expensive, even as valuable as gold.
Knights can speed up the process of Knight's Breathing Method by taking this monster flesh and blood. Wizards need this monster flesh and blood to perform ritual magic. Even priests need this flesh and blood to extract the auxiliary ingredients of the holy ointment.
Stepping over these killer rabbits, Horn came to the mountain wall and looked up at the cave in front of him.
He had wanted to use Jeanne's lightning to lure out the possible "Pied Piper", but there had been no movement in the cave up to this point.
You really can keep your cool.
The Pied Piper was able to keep his composure, but Father Cosset was a little restless.
As if he was afraid that the person would run away, he volunteered to jump out. After obtaining Horn's consent, he strode in with a butcher knife in hand.
The sharp butcher knife was swung on the vines, the vines at the entrance of the cave were split open, and the scene inside was finally revealed to everyone.
"This, this is..."
This is, this is——
Everyone couldn't believe their eyes.
In the cave behind the vines, there were a few bloody characters engraved on the wall:
"Please recommend"
"Seeking collection"
