Chapter 69: Exploding Gold Coins
After confirming the identity of the undercover agent of Sissi's secret party, Horn quickly took the Holy Grail Knights and a brigade of guards to the bottom of the slope to explode the gold coins.
When Horn arrived at the bottom of the slope, except for a few of Sissi's guards, the rest of the armored soldiers had all disappeared.
I guess they saw our army was defeated and just ran away.
Horn looked forward over the guard's shoulder.
On the narrow path surrounded by bushes and groves, the sunlight shines through the gaps between the leaves and draws mottled shadows of algae and water chestnuts on the ground.
Ten sturdy trucks were crammed into this narrow dirt road of only two flankers.
The reins of the cart were removed, which were originally designed to prevent robbers from pulling the cart away, but in the end they all fell into Horn's hands.
About twenty horses were leisurely lying on the grass nearby, nibbling on lettuce and sawgrass, their soft lips trembling.
These draft horses were not very good. According to Sissi, they weighed between 700 and 900 pounds and had a pulling force of about 1200 pounds. Each cart required two or three horses to pull it.
Seeing these poor horses, Horn could feel the excitement of the people around him. They seemed to have seen the establishment of the First Cavalry Division of the Papal States.
"All right, go get the horse and be careful."
After giving instructions to a few guards, Horn, under the protection of Jeanne, approached the ten carts.
The ten farm wagons have different appearances but similar overall designs.
Each carriage is about 8 feet high, 12 feet long, and 6 feet wide. The four sides are made of solid oak, and the joints of the body are covered with thick leather. The corners and the joints of the wooden boards shine with a metallic luster. They are rows of rusty iron nails.
Unlike the Chinese carriages Horn had in mind, this type of carriage had no carriage. Behind the shaft was a large box-like bed that was not sealed and covered with canvas.
The wheels under the carriage were about four fingers wide, and the spokes were covered with rotten linen, not sure if it was for waterproofing or something else.
Each carriage was pulled by two or three sturdy, nags with tangled hair, a stench of grease, and restless pawings.
What is more eye-catching is that there is a flag in the corner of the carriage. It is a big white goose printed on red cloth, which should be the logo of the Magdi Chamber of Commerce.
Horn had seen Archbishop Barniforth's banner, which showed a man praying with a black cross on his lips. There was nothing new about it.
Walking to a large cart, Xixi introduced it to Horn with a smile: "These goods were originally going to be sent to the black market. During this period, Black Snake Bay must be in short supply of everything. I can make a lot of money. I can take this opportunity to escape."
"Escape?"
"Yes, the impact of this flood is not only you, I have to run too. I will tell you in detail tomorrow."
As she spoke, Sissi lifted the tarpaulin covering the carriage, revealing the cargo underneath.
"These ten carts carried about 1660 gallons of grain, 700 yards of coarse woolen cloth, 400 yards of fine woolen cloth, 400 pounds of salt, 400 pounds of iron ingots, 50 pounds of refined iron, and 50 pounds of each of the five colors of dye.
There are also 10 pounds of Gan root, 20 pounds of latex, 8 pounds of safflower, and 12 ounces of monster meat...the total amount of these materials is 100 pounds.
There are also about 200 pounds of miscellaneous tools and general merchandise. All together, it's about 17000 pounds of goods."
He called the coachman who was with him, repaired the axle and the shaft, and with the horses neighing, Horn returned with the takeaway food delivered by Quincy.
Riding on a big horse, Horn asked the guard in front to lead the horse. He felt so excited for the first time.
Not only did he repel the church's army, but he also connected with the secret party.
Next, all you have to do is escape to Black Snake Bay and settle down for two years before you can leave the mountain.
Horn still refused to give up his dream of owning a piece of land in the sun.
Even though the secret party seems to have great influence in Black Snake Bay and Thousand River Valley, it is because the situations in these two places are special.
For a vast empire, it is just the tip of the iceberg.
There are ten provinces in the empire in name only. Qianhe Valley and Black Snake Bay are just two territories under the jurisdiction of Kaimu Province. Outside of these two territories, the secret party is nothing but a bunch of idiots.
Even in these two areas, the secret party had to hide from place to place.
If there was no other way, Horn really didn't want to cooperate with them.
Falling behind Horn, Sissi walked with the others. He looked deeply at Horn and began to communicate with Jeanne and others.
After all, one of the purposes of her trip was to win over this new witch with the power of transformation.
"...I see." After asking a few questions related to lightning abilities, Jeanna remembered the chanting magic that Bonard had used earlier. "Sissi, um, sir, I have a question for you?"
"Just call me Sister Xixi. I and our people have always called each other brothers if we are men and sisters if we are women." Xixi pulled her hair up in a charming manner. "What do you want to ask?"
"What magic did the monk use earlier?"
"That's a common method used by low-level monks to deal with monsters. Chanting can only have a disruptive effect." Sissi's leather boots stepped on the dirty ground, but there was not a trace of pampering and disgust that matched her noble appearance.
"This kind of interference is too great. Do all the monks have this ability? The church is too powerful."
In response to Jeanne's question, Sissi gracefully covered her mouth and chuckled, causing the guards around her to stare in amazement.
“You think it’s effective only because it’s your first time encountering it, and your magic power is too weak, so it needs time to grow.
When you encounter it again in the future, even if hundreds of monks chant together, you will only feel like a small mosquito buzzing. "
At this point, Sissi hesitated for half a second, but continued, "I have to remind you that I am familiar with what those witches and wizards once said.
When the magic power becomes strong enough to oppress the soul, the illusion will be much more terrifying than any pattern, so you'd better get used to it now."
Seeing that Sissi talked about the topic that interested her, Horn immediately dismounted. He asked the company commanders of the Guards to move aside and prepared to talk to Sissi in detail.
"Actually, I've always wanted to ask, how do wizards cast spells?" Horn asked in a low voice, "Look at me, do I still have this chance?"
"You are, Sister Jeanne's witch family, which generation?" Sissi asked back.
“First generation.”
"Let me see your spell-like ability."
"No."
Sissi frowned her pretty eyebrows and said, "I'm not a demon hunter, just tell the truth. This is fine."
Grampven smiled and continued, "That's true. His Majesty Horn is a first-generation follower, but not only does he not have any spell-like abilities, he doesn't even have any side effects."
There were no aftereffects at all. Xixi looked up and down at this honest-looking young man.
After thinking for a moment, he said in an uncertain tone: "This needs to be diagnosed by a professional pharmacist or wizard. I personally think that it may be because Jeanna is relatively young and has awakened for a relatively short period of time, so the magic power has little effect on you."
"You mean, the sequelae of the witch's disease are actually caused by magic power?" Horn quickly grasped the logic in his words.
"You can say that." Sissi nodded, "According to the Fajing School, the deformation of the human body caused by the witch disease is actually caused by the soul.
Magic power oppresses the soul, the soul oppresses the brain, the brain oppresses the body, one layer oppressing the other, and distortion occurs.
Your magic power may be too weak, so there will be no such distortion."
"Sister Sissi, you keep talking about this magic power. What exactly is magic power?" Jeanna asked from the side.
