Chapter 25 Causes of the Riot
Anti and Nie Hong walked out of the small church with confidence.
Nie Hong was just thinking about whether this was a bad idea when she saw out of the corner of her eye that a window of a house on the same street as the chapel was suddenly closed, and a figure quickly disappeared behind the window.
Just as he was about to remind Anti, he saw Anti had already jumped out and rushed towards the house.
He broke the door open with a hammer and saw a thin figure hurriedly walking down the stairs.
The other party was stunned for a moment, obviously not expecting Anti's reaction to be so quick.
Anti's left hand was already glowing red.
The figure in front of him knelt on his knees on the stairs: "Mercy! Mercy! Lord Believer, please let me go! I shouldn't have looked around so carelessly! Don't dig my eyes out!"
The hammer that had already flown halfway was retracted, and Nie Hong caught up from behind at about the same time. As soon as he came in, he heard the other party begging for mercy.
"Close the door." Anti said to him.
Nie Hong pointed at the door that was twisted by the hammer and asked: "Can this still be closed?"
"Then block it."
"Okay." Nie Hong used the Imperial Object to pull something in the house, closed the door and blocked it.
Anti looked at the man, cleared his throat, and felt that he should slow down his tone to calm the victim.
"We are not suspicious people." He said with a blank expression and a flat voice. In order to prove his words, he opened his hands and tried to prove himself, but because he was holding a hammer in his hand, he accidentally knocked over an old wooden table.
The townspeople and Nie Hong were all silent, not knowing what to say.
"This is obviously a problem with the table." Anti said as he wiped the hammer and then stuffed it directly into his body to prevent it from hitting anything else.
Nie Hong was already somewhat accustomed to Anti taking weapons out and putting them in his body at will, but the townsman in front of him was not like that.
The other person widened his eyes, leaned back against the wall, opened his mouth but could hardly utter clear words, and pointed at Anti with trembling fingers.
"Monster...Monster! Monster!"
Nie Hong stepped forward and asked tentatively: "Well...how about I do it?"
Anti narrowed his eyes, not seeming very happy: "Okay."
……
Nie Hong's relatively immature and normal appearance successfully calmed down the townsman who was frightened by Anti.
An Ti went to the upstairs window to look around the town, but found something unusual. There were still few people there, just like in the morning. After coming down, he saw that the other party was in a better mood, so he turned his eyes to Nie Hong.
Nie Hong nodded and spoke to the townspeople in the common language of the Dream Realm, "It's okay. You are a normal person. We won't do anything to you. We are not from those evil cults. We won't dig out your eyes. We will just ask a few questions."
The townspeople calmed down a lot at this time, and their basic thinking ability regained its strength. However, when they looked at Anti, fear still grew in them and they kept shaking their heads.
Then he asked, "Are you from outside the country?"
Nie Hong replied: "Yes, we are from outside, but this town seems a bit strange. Many villagers don't seem very friendly. I wonder what's going on?"
The townspeople sighed and said, "When you came out of that secret passage, I thought you were one of them. That was originally a tunnel that some people secretly dug in order to secretly mine the relic minerals that were previously banned from mining. After those religious people came, they used it as a shortcut."
"By shortcut, do you mean they travel here frequently?"
"They were originally doing business at the normal entrance of the mine, but one day some outsiders suddenly came. They asked us to poison them, but they still let them get into the mine."
The townspeople's eyes revealed panic: "The religious people chased them into the mine, and no one in the town knew what happened afterwards, except that an earthquake occurred in the whole mountain that day. In the end, those outsiders did not come out again, and they must have died in the mine. However, many religious people did not come back either, and there must have been a war." "It was also after that that the religious people said that the entrance to the mine on the mountain could not be used, and they had to find another way. Then someone revealed the secret passage. For a long time, they went back and forth in that secret passage, and even rebuilt the sculptures in the church for this purpose, hoping to get protection, but it was of no use, and there were still heavy casualties."
At this point, the townsman couldn't help but smile, as if in mockery.
"Heavy casualties? Do you know what they were doing through the tunnels?"
"They wanted to get the things in the mine ruins. They prepared rituals and collected eyes, all for the power hidden in the mine. Everyone in this town is a fool blinded by profit. Just for that little bit of money at the beginning, they threw away morality, dignity, and eyes. In the end, they even lost their lives, the lives of the entire town!"
As the townsman spoke, his emotions surged and his thin body trembled slightly, but after he finished speaking a long string of words, he couldn't stop gasping for breath.
Nie Hong turned to look at An Ti, who was wandering around the house, seemingly not paying attention at all.
But after the townspeople finished speaking and rested for a while, Anti suddenly spoke again: "They finally got the things, right?"
"...Yes, they got it not long ago." The townspeople said sadly, "After so many years, they finally succeeded. This town will probably be abandoned. It would be fine if they just left, but do you think they will choose to silence us?"
Nie Hong was looked at by those sad eyes and didn't know what to say.
"What was taken out? Teeth?" Anti ignored all that and continued asking.
The townspeople nodded quickly. "Yes! I was also peeking upstairs at the time, and they took out a tooth... thicker than all of my fingers combined!"
Nie Hong looked at An Ti curiously: "How do you know?"
"The wolf said so."
"what?"
An asked the wolf guarding the tunnel questions because he wanted to know what exactly the cultists were doing in the mines.
Wolf said that they finally spent a lot of eyeballs to perform the miracle ritual and used human corpses to disperse the concentration of the curse. After enduring for many years, they finally succeeded in taking away an animal tooth from the table in the center of the ruins.
But they were not actually that happy, because some things were not completely obtained. The wolf heard from the humans that there should have been a weapon on the weapon rack next to the table, and that was what these Night Chaser Church members wanted most.
Unfortunately, the weapon had disappeared by the time they successfully broke into the ruins.
Now, comparing it with what this townsman said, it seems that what the wolf said was not false.
It turns out that it is easy to build trust through real physical transactions.
"Is it since they got that tooth that their need for eyes has further increased?" Anti continued to ask.
The townspeople said, "You're right. It was horrible. When they took out the tooth, the monsters in the mine rushed out like crazy, as if they wanted to take the tooth back. But the monsters didn't care who had the tooth. So many people died... It was simply a riot."
riot……
Anti suddenly remembered when he first came into this world.
He had just bullied a cursed creature, and then a large number of cursed creatures appeared and came to him for team building.
Safin also said that the cursed creatures in the shallow layer of the mine are cowardly and timid, and it is almost impossible for them to gather in groups, and their aggressiveness is not that exaggerated.
And what happened to Antio wasn’t fake either.
Now it seems that the question raised earlier has finally been answered.
