Chapter 149 Loneliness and Solitude

Chapter 149 Loneliness and Solitude

When it was time to eat, Gong Youwei lay on the stone table with her rabbit ears drooping.

She pouted and looked at Li Daoxuan who was eating fruit, her face full of unhappiness.

"It's all over." Seeing her expression, Li Daoxuan sighed and tried his best to comfort her.

Gong Youwei felt that she had lost her morals and had been misunderstood by Li Daoxuan because she was seen without clothes just now. So she kept dwelling on this matter and felt unhappy. Even though Li Daoxuan tried to persuade her earnestly, she still couldn't be happy.

"But I'm being seen naked like this, isn't that unfaithful to my husband?"

"Pfft. Who told you that?!" Li Daoxuan swallowed the fruit with difficulty and stared at Gong Youwei.

"That's what the monks in the temple said. I always see monks taking off their clothes and pressing others down, and then scolding the women for being unfaithful after they leave." Gong Youwei said tangledly. "So I was not wearing any clothes just now, would I be scolded like this?"

"Cough cough cough!! You, what are you talking about!" Li Daoxuan quickly covered Gong Youwei's mouth, fearing that she would say something shocking again.

I don’t know why she goes to the temple every day. She even sees monks having an affair.

"This is not your fault, and I won't blame you for anything."

"Really?" Gong Youwei's rabbit ears stood up straight, moving in a very cute way, which made Li Daoxuan feel itchy and he wanted to reach out and touch the rabbit ears.

"Of course it's true, but don't go to that temple casually in the future. If those monks find you, they will skin you and make a roasted rabbit." Li Daoxuan threatened.

Gong Youwei was also frightened by him and quickly said that she would never go there again.

Li Daoxuan finished his meal contentedly and asked the little rabbit how long he had slept.

The rabbit said that he slept from sunrise to sunset, which was almost half a day.

Li Daoxuan calculated the time and stretched his muscles while leaning against the stone table.

His injuries recovered quickly, and he was able to get out of bed and walk after a good night's sleep. Although his meridians still hurt, it was much better than before. As long as he didn't use magic too frequently, he might be completely healed in ten days or half a month.

Looking at his own gains and losses, the two swords given by the old Taoist priest fell into the old house of the Zhao family, and he didn't know whether they would be picked up by the young master Wang. The talismans he brought with him were completely used up. The robes he was wearing were also burned to pieces and could no longer be worn.

Fortunately, the flamboyant tree was still there, and Young Master Wang did not think of searching him right away. You know, this thing is a treasure coveted by the Taoist priests, and this is the only battle here, which makes Li Daoxuan realize that there must be countless wonderful uses waiting for him to discover.

After counting his things, Li Daoxuan sat on a stone chair to meditate. When he woke up, he found that the rabbit spirit was no longer in the cave.

Li Daoxuan finished his practice, stood up and walked a few steps to stretch his muscles and bones, and took a look at the surrounding environment. But when he walked out of the cave, he saw the rabbit spirit lying on a rock.

Gong Youwei opened her eyes when she heard the noise, climbed up, looked at him and asked, "Why did you come out?"

"Come out for a walk. You'll get tired if you keep resting. What about you? What are you doing here?"

"Absorbing the moonlight."

"Can you absorb it while lying down?" Li Daoxuan asked. "What does it feel like?"

He was very curious, after all, it was the first time in his life that he saw a monster practicing.

Gong Youwei did not hide anything from him and expressed her feelings.

"I can absorb the moonlight in any way, as long as the bright moon is out. It feels cool and comfortable all over. It's just like when you caressed me before, very gentle and warm." Gong Youwei answered seriously.

"So what do you do when there's no moon?"

"Just go to sleep."

"and then?"

"Go out and walk around, then go to the temple and have a look."

"Is it always like this?"

"Yes, it has always been like this." Gong Youwei answered nonchalantly.

"Won't it be boring?"

"Why are you bored?" Gong Youwei asked back.

When Li Daoxuan heard her words, he opened his mouth and wanted to say that staying in one place for hundreds of years, how could it not be boring? But thinking that Gong Youwei was a fairy, maybe her concept of time was different from his. What seemed boring to others might be the joy of life for her?

Just as Zhuangzi said, "You are not a fish, so how can you know the joy of a fish?" Li Daoxuan thought, and lightly jumped onto the rock and sat side by side with Gong Youwei.

He looked at the night sky, pointed at the moon in the sky and said: "The moon has stars as companions. You will feel lonely if you stay here alone all the time, right? There will always be no one to accompany you."

"Lonely." Gong Youwei drooped her ears and looked up at the sky. "I don't feel lonely. I've been living here forever."

"Don't you have any place you want to go?" Li Daoxuan turned his head and looked at Gong Youwei. He saw her staring blankly at the sky and suddenly felt a little sorry for her.

If one person remains the same for hundreds of years, even iron will rust.

"Have you ever seen the sea?"

"What is the sea?"

"Lots and lots of water. Endless! All blue!"

"Wow! Is there as much water as in the river ahead?"

"Many more than that, hundreds of them."

"So much water?! How can there be so much water?!"

"Would you like to see it?"

"miss you!"

Li Daoxuan and Gong Youwei sat on the rock and chatted for a long time, so long that Gong Youwei fell asleep without realizing it.

She lay defenselessly on Li Daoxuan's legs, and her sleeping posture was very playful.

The night breeze brought a cool breeze, and Li Daoxuan sat on a rock looking at the night sky.

He had slept all day and now felt not sleepy. He enjoyed the silence of the night and waited for the dawn to come.

"Look at the sea, look at the mountains." Gong Youwei was talking in her sleep while lying on his legs. Li Daoxuan lowered his head and looked at her. He couldn't help but smile and took off his tattered robes and put them on her.

"After being in the hustle and bustle for a long time, even loneliness can become a pleasure. But what if loneliness lasts for too long?" Li Daoxuan said to himself.

At sunrise in the early morning, Gong Youwei woke up from her dream.

She sat up from the rock and rubbed her eyes, with a look of aftertaste on her face. She had a very beautiful dream yesterday.

In the dream there was the blue sea that Li Daoxuan had described, and mountains towering into the clouds.

She lay in the sea, drifting towards the high mountains with the current. It was really a very beautiful dream.

Gong Youwei was recalling her beautiful dream, and suddenly she thought of something and looked around, but she didn't find what she wanted to see.

Feeling something strange on his body, he looked down and saw that it was Li Daoxuan's robes.

She quickly jumped off the rock and ran into the cave, looking around in the cave with wide eyes, but the more she looked, the more lonely she looked. Finally, she sat blankly on the stone chair, looking at the tattered robes in her hands.

"Gone?" Gong Youwei whispered softly. "He didn't even tell me."

She felt lost and a little sad. Perhaps it had been a long time since she had listened to someone talk so well like this, and she had never felt that kind of joy before.

She was very happy yesterday, happier than she had ever been.

"Well, I should have gotten used to it long ago." Gong Youwei lay on the stone table holding her robes, looking listless.

Suddenly her ears pricked up, as if she heard some sound. She quickly sat up straight and saw Li Daoxuan walking in with a bamboo basket of steamed buns.

"You, where have you been?" Gong Youwei asked.

"I went to the nearby market to exchange some food. It's not good to eat fruits all the time." Li Daoxuan said with a smile.

He rushed to the market in a nearby village early in the morning and bought some food with the little money he had brought with him when he came to the Zhao family's old house.

The fruits he ate yesterday didn’t satisfy his hunger, so he planned to buy some steamed buns for later use, and also see if he could buy something for Gong Youwei.

"Here, this is for you." Li Daoxuan took out something and handed it to Gong Youwei.
