Chapter 10 I'm Not Psychotic
"Because the replica is dirty and I don't want to wash it." Tanigawa answered frankly.
"Then how do you know that it was Director Ochiai who killed Boss Manaka?"
"Guess."
Tanigawa's attitude aroused Conan's even stronger curiosity.
"Kid, why do you have to come to the Metropolitan Police Department?" Kogoro Mouri punched Conan on the head.
If this kid hadn't insisted on coming over, he would have been at home watching Miss Yoko's new show.
"That brother took the armor from the art museum without permission. That's very suspicious." Conan said dissatisfiedly, touching his head.
"What's suspicious about this? I do this just for money!"
If it wasn't for Xiaolan pulling him, Conan would have another big bump on his head.
"He's not selling it for money." Yumi Miyamoto said from the side.
"Tani Kawane does this kind of thing simply because he 'likes it'."
"Haha, Mr. Tanigawa is just young and ignorant. A simple criticism and education will do." Inspector Megure walked in with sweat on his forehead.
Now he no longer has the pride he had when he showed off in front of Kogoro Mori.
Who knew that the son of a high-ranking official would steal things, and they caught him. They really didn't want this hot potato.
If only Tanigawa hadn't stolen the items from the murder scene, we could have just handed him over to the Ministry of Transportation.
"Inspector Megure, this big brother's behavior doesn't seem like ordinary theft at all." Conan said as he broke away from Kogoro Mouri's hand.
"I was simply young and ignorant. You shouldn't be too harsh on a minor. Everyone makes mistakes when they are young." Tanigawa said indignantly.
As a 19-year-old minor, Tanigawa felt that he was not protected by the Minor Protection Act.
"I'm just a child!" said Tanikawa Ning angrily.
Ai accepted it well, but Conan was already stunned by Tanikawa Ning.
"But minors should also abide by the law!" Conan felt that he should correct Tanikawa Ning's wrong thinking.
"Little boy, you actually have such a high level of awareness." Tanigawa looked at Conan in surprise.
"of course."
Conan adjusted his glasses.
"But when I was at the art museum, I saw you destroying the murder scene, deceiving the police to illegally mobilize surveillance, and snatching evidence. You don't seem like a law-abiding person."
Tanigawa feels that he and Conan are birds of a feather and lack basic respect for Japanese laws.
Tanigawa felt weird when Conan scolded him for being lawless.
"Uh, I don't." Conan retorted weakly.
He just wanted to find the murderer faster.
Moreover, it is legal for detectives to use other means to get the truth.
Inspector Megure looked at the two people arguing with a headache, not quite sure how to deal with the situation.
"Officer Megure, there's a doctor outside. He said he's here to see Tanikawa Ning." A policeman who came in said.
"Doctor?" Inspector Megure frowned.
"Yes, he said he was commissioned by 'Tanigawa Yuan' to treat his son."
Officer Megure looked at Tanigawa Ning, "Mr. Tanigawa, are you feeling unwell?"
"No." Tanikawa Ning shook his head.
He and Tanigawa Yuan were not familiar with each other at all. With Tanigawa Ning's moral level, he could fully accept the convenience brought by his current identity, but he could also reject the emotional responsibility brought by his current identity without any burden. He didn't know what disease the man had, so he had to come to check his body.
Could it be that he felt that he had changed too much from usual and became suspicious?
But, possession of another's body is something related to fantasy, and even a doctor cannot tell the difference.
"Then please let him in first." Officer Megure said. Mr. Tanigawa's health must not be taken lightly, if something happens his hat will fall off.
A middle-aged man in a white suit walked in, then naturally took out a handful of business cards and handed them to everyone present.
"Hello everyone, I am Fukuyama Zhiyuan, the director of Qingshan Mental Hospital."
"Mental hospital?" Officer Megure said in surprise.
Could it be that Mr. Tanigawa Tou wanted to apply for a mental illness certificate for Mr. Tanigawa, so that he could be taken away reasonably? As expected of a high-ranking official, he was able to solve problems for his subordinates.
Inspector Megure asked a few young policemen to bring stools, and Tanikawa Ning and Fukuyama Shito sat opposite each other.
"The first step in identifying a mentally ill patient is horizontal comparison: assessing the differences between the patient and the normal people around him." Fukuyama Zhiyuan put on his glasses and stared at Tanikawa Ning with a focused look.
"He is indeed very different from the normal people around him." Ai said.
He is much sicker than normal people.
"Really?" said Fukuyama Zhiyuan.
“What are the specific differences?”
"Does it count as not being able to tell the difference between your own home and someone else's home?" Ai said.
"Of course it counts." said Fukuyama Zhiyuan.
"I don't think so." Tanikawa Ning said dissatisfiedly.
How could he become a mental patient when he has such a great reputation throughout his life?
"That was my first time going to that house. It's normal that I can't tell the difference. There are people who can't tell their own wife from other people's wives. I'm much more normal than those people." Tanigawa muttered softly.
Fukuyama Zhiyuan adjusted his glasses, tears glistening in his eyes. His wife couldn't tell the difference between her own husband and someone else's husband.
"Let's proceed to the second step." Fukuyama Zhiyuan didn't want to continue with the first step.
“Longitudinal comparison: Is there a significant change compared to previous performance?”
"Yes." Xiao Ai raised her hand and answered.
"He's normal when he's asleep, but not normal when he's awake."
"Haha, kid, that's not how it's calculated." Fukuyama Zhiyuan smiled.
"Does it count if Tanigawa steals my things unconsciously when he gets close to me?" Ai continued.
"And he also likes to burst into laughter suddenly, as if he has gained something good."
"Okay, I understand." Fukuyama Zhiyuan wrote and drew on the paper.
"Is it possible that I really got something good?" Tanigawa said to Ai.
"How can you possibly get anything if you just sit there motionless?" Xiao Ai curled her lips.
"Isn't it okay if it fell from the sky?" Tanigawa told the truth.
Fukuyama Zhiyuan glanced at Tanigawa and then wrote down Tanigawa's symptoms on a piece of paper.
'Patients have hallucinations'
"Okay, I already know the details." Fukuyama Zhiyuan interrupted their quarrel.
"The third step is to see whether the patient's words and actions are in line with the social culture or situation at the time." Fukuyama Zhiyuan even called Tanikawa Ning the patient.
"It's totally inconsistent." Xiao Ai answered positively.
"He doesn't obey the law, doesn't respect his parents, doesn't respect the elderly and loves the young, likes to steal things and doesn't fit in with this society."
Am I that bad?
Tanigawa examined himself and felt that he should be a good person.
"Well, that might just be Tanikawa Ning being a simple scumbag." said Yumi Miyamoto.
