Chapter 176 Sacrifice to Saiguo
The distant mountains appear after the fallen trees in the flat forest, the winding stream is covered with frost and the valley is clear. After passing one mountain after another, the four saints finally appear and enter the city.
Sanzang had amazing eyesight. He saw from afar a plaque hanging on the top of the city wall, which was called "Jisai City". Just as he was about to enter the city, he saw a dozen monks, wearing shackles and chains and in tattered clothes.
"Punishment, go ask that monk why he is in such a state of desolation."
The demon ape chuckled and hunched forward, "Monk, let me ask you a question, and you answer it. What crime have you committed? What crime have you been convicted of? Why are you in such a state?"
The leader looked at the executioner, who was less than four feet tall, about 1.45 meters tall, with bared fangs, a hairy face and shrunken cheeks. He looked like a peerless demon king. His legs went limp and he fell to the ground, "Grandpa demon, spare us. We are monks from the Jinguang Temple. It was originally a large temple in the city. There is a treasure on the top of the temple. Every night, it shines brightly with rays of light and auspicious colors. People from all over the country think it is a good omen and come to worship. The incense is endless. Naturally, the monks of the Jinguang Temple are also respected in this city."
"Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. Three years ago, during the autumnal equinox, a bloody rain fell in the middle of the night. When the rain stopped and the sky cleared, the treasures in my temple were lost. The king blamed us for not taking good care of them, and also thought that we had embezzled the treasures. He tortured us in many ways and even forced us to become beggars. I was shackled and chained, and suffered this hardship." After the monk finished speaking, he cried bitterly.
Sun Xingzhe just smiled and said: "Your Jinguang Temple was built with treasures, so it will naturally fall with treasures. You can bear it when you sit upright in the temple, so why would you feel wronged when you are knocked down from the clouds?"
Sanzang also rode forward and helped the monk up: "According to what you said, the treasure must be extraordinary. Where did it come from?"
The monk said this, tears fell like rain: "This treasure was found by the abbot, Master Jueming, by chance. He regarded it as a Buddhist treasure and placed it on the top of the pagoda, where he worshipped it every day. Since then, he has lost the Buddhist treasure. The tyrant emperor tortured him every day. The abbot could not bear it and went back and forth to the West. As for the inside story, only the abbot knows it. I hope that the master will save our lives for the sake of the Buddha's family."
"Since the cause is unclear and the consequence is unknown, it will not be too late to talk about it after I pay a visit to the king of Jisai. Punishers, please give them some dry food!" Sanzang said.
Sun Xingzhe opened his bag and muttered, "Master, you are too unkind. You even ask about this matter. I stop every three days and rest every five days. When can I get the true scriptures?"
Sanzang only put his hand on the monkey's head and exerted a little force, pressing the torturer's legs into the mud. "I was enlightened by the Buddha Wu Tian and sought the true scriptures. The three treasures of scriptures are empty, and the 108,000 miles are empty. The scriptures are experiences. I will defeat demons and monsters along the way and save all living beings. This is the true path of scriptures. Even if I go to the west of Lingshan Mountain and obtain the wordless true scriptures, it will be a success and I will become a true Buddha. Don't put the cart before the horse."
"If you ask me, Senior Brother, you are too talkative. Just do whatever the Master tells you to do. You're asking for nothing!" Zhu Bajie came over. He was over ten feet tall, which is more than three meters tall, with his chest exposed, a pig nose and fan-shaped ears, a strip of black hair on his back, protruding fangs, and a nine-toothed rake in his hand.
Following behind was Sha Wujing, who was 18 feet tall, with arms three feet across and a body about four meters tall. He had a green face and red hair, and nine skulls hung around his neck. He had his eyes closed and was reciting Buddhist scriptures, holding a crescent shovel in his hand.
clang!
The golden stick and the rake collided, making a crisp sound.
"I am Sun, the old man, and I have no right to interrupt you, a pig demon!" Sun Xingzhe's eyes flashed golden light, and he raised his stick and smashed it down.
How could Zhu Bajie submit to him? He pressed down with his mountain-like body, raised his rake and wrestled with him: "You poor monkey, a shorty, why am I saying a word to you? Could it be that the Five Elements Peak has suppressed your violent nature for hundreds of years, but it still hasn't suppressed your violent nature, so you want your Grandpa Pig to help you?"
There is evil and demonic spirit everywhere, and he doesn't look like a disciple of the holy monk Zhengde at all.
At this moment, Sha Wujing, who had been silently reciting scriptures with his eyes closed, suddenly opened his eyes, revealing red pupils: "Kill!"
Then, boundless murderous aura rushed straight into the sky, disturbing the clouds, and boundless blood and energy surged with the killing spirit's breath.
The monk had never seen such a ferocious monster before. He fell to the ground, trembling and not daring to look up.
A golden light broke through the boundless blood and energy. Sanzang's face lost all compassion and mercy. He jumped off the white horse, his muscles bulged, and he grabbed the stick and rake. With a little force, he separated the two weapons. "Great and Mighty Heavenly Dragon!"
With a roar, the white horse turned into a soaring golden dragon and slammed into Sun Xingzhe and Zhu Bajie fiercely. Sanzang held a golden stick in one hand and a rake in the other, and lashed the two monsters in the face with both hands, sending them flying several feet away.
Then he threw away his weapon, clasped his hands together, and suddenly he became furious. Hurricanes arose around him, and he chanted the Buddha's name. A golden light rose up. It was the nine-ring tin staff, which expanded to several feet in size and stood behind Sanzang.
Sanzang stared at Sha Wujing and said, "Wujing, you are too murderous. If you can't control it, I will have to show my Mingwang appearance to help you!"
Sha Wujing's eyes were filled with murderous intent. He stared for a moment, then slowly put his hands together, lowered his head and closed his eyes. The murderous intent and blood immediately subsided.
Seeing that all his beloved disciples were well-behaved, Sanzang withdrew his magical powers and sighed, "All of you are full of greed, anger and ignorance. If there were no restraints, your master would rather go to the West alone. Since the Buddha Wutian enlightened me, I have suffered this in order to seek the right result. Seeing the suffering and resentment of all living beings, I have become a killing calamity, and only then can I spare the lives of you three monsters. Your master has sunk into the sea of suffering, and I have broken my vow of killing. I have found the great way, and the battles have never stopped. All of you have great abilities, but you are also born with great evil and sin. Don't force your master to convert you!"
Sun Xingzhe stood up, holding up the golden stick: "Master, please don't recite anymore. I will listen to you."
"I am the kindest person, old pig. Master, when you train your disciples, you should train that killer Wujing." Zhu Bajie said with a smile.
Sanzang shook his head and said, "You all look very different and have broad bodies. Don't scare the mortals. Retract your muscles and bones and follow me into the city."
At the command, Zhu Bajie Sha Wujing shrank in size and retracted his fangs. Sun Xingzhe also retracted his fangs and hairy face. The three monsters looked much more obedient.
"Get up quickly. A bad disciple is difficult to discipline and will only make people laugh at him." Sanzang helped the monk up.
The monk didn't dare to say anything. With that kind of attitude just now, he was not a holy monk at all, but clearly a demon monk.
Sanzang ignored him and walked into the city.
They did not go to the king's palace, but found an inn and checked in.
'It is said that the four elements are empty and compassion is the most important thing, but my hands are stained with countless sins of killing.'
Sanzang sat cross-legged in meditation, then shook his head. Having walked tens of thousands of miles, it is natural that he would not have any pedantic thoughts. He understood that he was on his own path to becoming a Buddha.
'The four elements are empty, which does not mean giving up lust, but settling down, integrating into all living beings, truly perceiving the sufferings of the world, and developing a compassionate heart, which is considered universal salvation.'
'Be compassionate, but you must know the truth of the world, not be trapped by one person, understand why all living beings suffer, killing and protecting life are originally one, and the root cause is to find the root cause. If you want to relieve the suffering of all living beings, I am afraid you have to break the miasma of immortals and Buddhas. But if I make the immortals and Buddhas disappear, how can I guarantee that I will not become the immortal or Buddha who is high above? '
Sanzang couldn't help but feel a little confused: "Buddha, I don't understand."
Suddenly, he stood up, stretched out his hand, and a person fell into his palm.
