Chapter 127: Dependent Origination and Emptiness, the Second Sakyamuni! [Subscribe]

"Brother, how do you know so much?"

Not long after Lin Xuan finished speaking, Xiaohu brought him a cup of tea and asked.

"I read all of it in the Sutra Library."

After taking a sip of water, Lin Xuan smiled.

His soul is not as good as the three people in front of him.

If we say that he carries the Cauldron of Good Fortune, it can be regarded as a necessary golden finger for time travelers!
Then Xiaolong, Xiaohu and Xiaolan, who have wisdom from their previous lives, can also be considered cheating.

After all, the sky-supporting white jade elephant that he had imagined was something he had actually learned from the "White Jade Elephant Buddha Picture".

How can they awaken easily like these three people?

And once awakened, it will be the complete form of the soul!

He can only understand it step by step.

In order to better cultivate his primordial spirit and practice Shaolin skills, he had to read a large number of Buddhist scriptures.

After a few visits, I naturally had a general understanding of the eight sects of Buddhism.

Hearing this, Xiaolong couldn't help but recall that his senior brother often went to the Sutra Library to read books at night. It turned out that he learned Buddhism bit by bit.

Thinking about this, he reflected:
"It seems that we have neglected the importance of reading before. We should follow the example of our senior brother in the future."

"Like me?" Lin Xuan was stunned.

I couldn't help but smile and said:
"After dinner, let's go to the Sutra Library of the White Horse Temple, how about that?"

"no problem."

Xiaolong agreed readily.

Hearing this, Xiaohu's mouth twitched.

Xiaolan was also unhappy.

She is not good at studying, so how could she understand the Buddhist scriptures?

But there is no way, after all, this is the master's instruction.

Everyone had no choice but to do it even though they were unwilling.

The reason why Lin Xuan wanted to go to the Sutra Repository was because he wanted to prepare for comprehending the "Nagarjuna Bodhisattva's Enlightenment Picture".

Lin Xuan had read roughly about the life of Bodhisattva Nagarjuna in Shaolin.

But it is not comprehensive.

The Bodhisattva Nagarjuna is one of the "Six Stricts and Two Saints" and the White Horse Temple is a place of Tantric Buddhism, so there must be relevant literature and materials.

……

Soon, dinner is ready.

Lin Xuan and three others followed Abbot Sanzang to the dining table. Upon closer inspection, they saw that there were eight or nine dishes and some soup.

In addition, there are also many steamed buns, snacks and so on.

I have to say that Abbot Mingtong is really polite.

This table of dishes was obviously prepared specially for them.

At the banquet, Lin Xuan mentioned to Abbot Mingtong his idea of visiting the Sutra Library at the White Horse Temple.

Abbot Mingtong readily agreed to this.

The Sutra Library of the White Horse Temple does not have any martial arts skills comparable to Shaolin!

Even if there were, Abbot Mingtong believed that Lin Xuan and his people would definitely look down on them.

After all, among the eight sects of Buddhism, who doesn’t know that the Zen sect’s disciples are the best at fighting!

The founder of Shaolin Buddhism, Bodhidharma, even left behind 72 unique Shaolin skills.

As for the Buddhist scriptures?
Abbot Mingtong is confident that he can compete with Shaolin!
Even if Lin Xuan looked at these things, it would be fine, but he couldn't take them away.

As for whether or not one has truly gained enlightenment about Tantric Buddhism, Abbot Mingtong would not mind it; instead, he would be happy to see it happen.

After all, to some extent, it is also promoting the teachings of Tantra.

This room.

When Abbot Sanzang heard that Lin Xuan wanted to visit the Sutra Library in the White Horse Temple, a smile appeared on his face.

Others may not know what this kid is thinking, but as the latter's master, how could he not know?

This is clearly aimed at the "Picture of Bodhisattva Nagarjuna's Enlightenment"!
...after dinner.

Lin Xuan and his three companions, led by a novice monk from the White Horse Temple, came to the Sutra Repository.

After Xiaolong, Xiaohu and Xiaolan came here, they naturally remembered the instructions of Abbot Sanzang and came here to read Buddhist scriptures related to Tantric Buddhism to increase their knowledge.

Lin Xuan specifically went to look for scriptures related to Bodhisattva Nagarjuna.

After a quick tour of the Sutra Repository, Lin Xuan quickly collected several books.

So he began to read it carefully.

This look lasted half an hour!

It turns out that the former name of Nagarjuna Bodhisattva was Nagaśyapa. He was born under Aśodhaka, hence the name Aśodhaka.

Because he achieved enlightenment through dragon, his name was Long.

He also has a new name, Nagayanasuna.

Translated, it means Long Meng.

Nagarjuna is a famous Mahayana Buddhist scholar. Some Buddhists even call him the "second generation of Sakyamuni"!
From this we can see how prominent this person is in Buddhism!

According to legend, he was a disciple of Kapimala, a disciple of Nagarjuna.

Later he became the teacher of Deva Bodhisattva.

The "Nagarjuna Biography" records that he was born in South India. His mother gave birth to him under a tree, so he was named Aśothāna. Aśothāna is the name of the tree. He achieved enlightenment with a dragon, so he was named after the dragon and was called Nagarjuna!
The Bodhisattva Nagarjuna founded the Madhyamaka school of Buddhism.

He wrote "Madhyamaka Shastra" and "Mahaprajnaparamita Shastra" etc.

These two books have had a far-reaching influence.

Even the Madhyamika School was born from this…

Lin Xuan continued reading.

Soon, he was immersed in it, and before he knew it, another half hour had passed.

This time, Lin Xuan gained a lot. With his understanding and insights, he roughly understood the "Madhyamaka Shastra" and the "Mahaprajnaparamita Shastra".

Among them, the "Madhyamaka Shastra" expounds the profound meaning of dependent origination and emptiness.

The Great Wisdom Treatise, on the other hand, adopts the middle way stance to demonstrate the truth of Prajna, and every word of it is precious!
After reading the wonderful part, Lin Xuan couldn't help but praise:

"'Neither arises nor perishes, neither is permanent nor ceases, neither is the same nor is different, neither comes nor goes', these 'Eight Negations' should be based on the essence of the law of dependent origination."

"According to what Nagarjuna Bodhisattva advocated, the essence of dependent origination is emptiness, and emptiness is unobstructed. Not falling into the two extremes of emptiness and existence is the middle way."

"The Middle Way is the law of dependent origination, which is the ultimate truth. It is known that the truth of the world is all dependent on causes and conditions, so it is empty and without self-nature. This point of emptiness and without self-nature is the difference between the Mahayana and Hinayana schools."

"This Nagarjuna Bodhisattva is truly a remarkable man. He actually has such a profound and unique understanding of the Mahayana path of Buddhism. No wonder it is recorded in the Buddhist scriptures that even those monks who practice Mahayana Buddhism regard him as a model!"

Lin Xuan's words were entirely based on his understanding after reading the Buddhist principles advocated by Bodhisattva Nagarjuna and the scriptures he wrote.

If Abbot Mingtong knew that Lin Xuan figured out all this in just over an hour, he would definitely be shocked!
Believe that he is the reincarnation of Buddha!

Bodhisattva reincarnation!

You know, he spent most of his life studying these Buddhist scriptures before he understood them.

After figuring this out, Lin Xuan did not leave.

Instead, he picked up other tantric studies and started reading.

But he put it down after reading less than three books.

Although what those Buddhist scriptures said were extremely correct, they were no match for those written by Bodhisattva Nagarjuna. Lin Xuan found them boring!

It's like being used to eating delicacies from land and sea, and then suddenly eating coarse food. You definitely won't be used to it.

Finally, he looked through the Dasabuddha-vibhasha-sastra, which was also written by Bodhisattva Nagarjuna.

By the time he finished reading, it was almost midnight.

But this time, he gained a lot and understood the fruits of Bodhisattva's practice and the three vehicles of Buddhism.

Simultaneously.

He was very confident that if Qing Wuzhen were to debate with him on the study of Tantric Buddhism, he would not necessarily lose with the outlines of Nagarjuna Bodhisattva's works in mind!
Thinking of this, Lin Xuan even felt a little excited.

……

This chapter is a preparation for Lin Xuan's later debate on Buddhism.
