Chapter 368 Ksitigarbha Dharmakaya
"I finally understand why Taoists always run to deep mountains and forests, for fear of being found, while Buddhists go wherever there are many people, because they go there for the incense." Yan Xu said with a sigh. Even though he owns several worlds, he is still shocked by the amount of incense consumed by the golden body of Buddhism. This is probably the reason for the emergence of Mahayana Buddhism.
The Hinayana Buddhism cultivates oneself and does not require high incense and offerings, but the upper limit is that at most one can cultivate into a golden body of an Arhat, so the Mahayana Buddhism came into being.
The starting point of Mahayana Buddhism is the Bodhisattva status, but how to save sentient beings? Naturally, sentient beings must believe in Buddhism and chant Amitabha. Only in this way can the negative impact caused by the poison of incense be greatly reduced. Therefore, believers in Buddhism must be pious and dedicated, and must not tolerate any disrespect, otherwise the gods and Buddhas do not mind showing their means. There are many examples in Journey to the West.
Of course, even so, it is impossible to completely eliminate the distracting thoughts in the incense, because if one is truly free of distractions, I am afraid that even the Western Paradise will have a place, so there are various incarnations.
Why do the compassionate Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have Vajra Kings representing their wrathful incarnations? It’s because their positive image cannot be affected, so they can only create a small account to carry and vent the poison of incense.
Rubbing his brows, Yan Xu still felt a little uncomfortable, even though he had long known that gods and Buddhas were not as glorious and majestic as they looked. Perhaps it was because he was too young and had too little experience. After practicing for a long time and losing his humanity, he was afraid that there would be no difference.
Now Yan Xu was holding the Buddhist Golden Body Method as if it were a piece of chicken ribs, full of indecision.
Practice it, I’m afraid of being brainwashed.
If I don’t practice, it would be a waste.
The Golden Body Technique of Buddhism is a rare technique with almost no upper limit. Not to mention in the mortal world, even in heaven, once it is used, unless it is a great god, everyone will give it some face, so he was reluctant to give it up.
In the end, Yan Xu couldn't resist the temptation and decided to practice Buddhism's Golden Body.
In fact, Yan Xu originally wanted to use himself as a template to cultivate the Golden Body, so as to minimize the chance of being led into a monastic life. However, he found that it was not possible because he did not have the corresponding status, which meant that he was not worthy.
"No wonder the golden bodies of monks and monsters are all based on the templates of the gods and Buddhas in the sky. This is the reason." Yan Xu frowned. This also interrupted his idea of erecting statues for himself in other worlds to gather faith, because he was not qualified and would easily get into trouble.
If using yourself as a template doesn't work, you can only seek help from gods and Buddhas.
Using the images of gods and Buddhas as a template to cultivate the golden body was not as scary or difficult as Yan Xu had imagined, because it was also beneficial to the gods and Buddhas.
Anyone who can cultivate the golden body of Buddhism is either a genius or a big shot in the mortal world. If they use the image of a god or Buddha, the reputation of that god or Buddha in the mortal world will soar, attracting more believers.
Moreover, by using the golden body of Buddhism to subdue demons and do good deeds, gods and Buddhas can also share some benefits. One or two may seem insignificant, but with countless golden bodies in countless worlds, the number gathered together is not a small number. Otherwise, why would gods and Buddhas delegate their images and power to others?
So as long as you don't do evil, there is no problem in using the images of gods and Buddhas.
If you do evil, haha, ordinary people will just curse you a few times, but a casual word from a god or Buddha might bring you misfortune for nine lifetimes.
Yan Xu scratched his head. The problem now was that he didn't know which image of immortal or Buddha to use.
The best template for the golden body of Buddhism is naturally Tathagata, but his status is too high. Yan Xu considered for a long time and finally chose Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, because he is a true Buddhist and a real stay-at-home, who only cares about the affairs of hell. Even if he is a little different and makes some noise, it will not alarm this Buddhist boss.
After making the decision, Yan Xu began to use the Buddhist golden body method to refine the essence of incense.
The method of obtaining the golden body is not too difficult to obtain in Buddhism, but the greatest difficulty is not the practice, but the accumulation of incense and vows.
Of course, if the magic power is strong enough that there is no need to rely on incense and vows to refine the golden body, it would be fine. The problem is that if you are so strong, do you still need to practice the Buddhist golden body?
Yan Xu has an advantage over others in that he not only has a system, but also has millions of believers from several worlds to provide faith. Next, Yan Xu extracted a large amount of essence from the incense reserves and used it as material for refining the golden body of Buddhism.
The purified essence of incense is a substance similar to topaz, which can be regarded as the prototype of vows. It can be directly used to construct the Dharma body of Ksitigarbha, saving him a lot of energy and time. Otherwise, without the help of temples and sects, it would take hundreds of years just to accumulate enough incense.
Because too much incense essence is needed, the essence system is forcibly upgraded to the intermediate level. The extracted essence is purer and can be converted into vows with almost no loss.
Apart from that, it was a pleasant surprise that the separated negative essence could be preserved.
When the astonishing reserves of incense were almost consumed, Yan Xu finally cultivated the Dharma body of Ksitigarbha.
The current Dharma body of Ksitigarbha cannot be called a golden body unless he is willing to invest more merits.
Just investing one thousand merits as a foundation made Yan Xu feel very distressed. He couldn't bear to give up more as he had to keep it to save his life.
In fact, if the Dharmakāśyapa of Ksitigarbha was not related to the important matter of collecting merits in the future, he would not be willing to give up even these one thousand points of merits.
With the protection of Ksitigarbha, Yan Xu finally had the confidence to travel in Yinshan. So after letting Xu Feiyan stay, he went to Yinshan alone.
The special nature of Yinshan Mountain caused wandering ghosts from a thousand miles around to gather here involuntarily. Even if they were scattered throughout Yinshan Mountain, coupled with the mutual devouring and killing of each other, the existing number was still extremely terrifying. Yan Xu did not dare to go too deep. After attracting a group of people, he found a place to sit down and then called out the Dharma body of Ksitigarbha.
The Dharmakāśyapa of Ksitigarbha wears a crown on his head, a cassock on his body, and holds a wish-fulfilling jewel in his hand. He looks solemn and compassionate. Just when he appears, there is peace all around, and people can't help but yearn for him.
After sensing the presence of ghosts and spirits around him, Ksitigarbha's Dharma body, which had been like a stone sculpture, opened its mouth and the Ksitigarbha Sutra began to play in a loop, which saved all the ghosts that kept gathering. Yan Xu also gained good fortune, good deeds and merits.
Yan Xu no longer cared much about luck points, and good deeds were dispensable. Only merit made him happiest, because he had finally found a stable source of merit, and it did not require much effort on his part.
However, in Yan Xu's perception, these gains were divided into three parts. The bulk of it belonged to him, one part was used to strengthen Ksitigarbha's Dharma body, and the remaining part was missing, which must have been a dividend to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
This is nothing. After all, Yan Xu not only borrows the image of the boss, but also borrows the boss's authority. It is only natural to give him some dividends.
After converting the souls in this small area, Yan Xu immediately put away the Ksitigarbha Dharmakaya, drove the Ghost Gate Flag and left.
Yan Xu is not stupid. Yinshan is such a good place, but those monks didn't occupy it to gain merit. There must be something fishy. There is probably a big boss in Yinshan. Therefore, small-scale trouble is fine, but forget about making a big fuss.
In fact, Yan Xu's guess was correct. Yinshan was indeed not a place where monsters could be spawned casually. The only problem was that even if a Buddhist monk held a large-scale ritual to pray for the salvation of the souls of the dead in Yinshan, it would be impossible for him to obtain as many good deeds as he did, let alone merits.
If one could really gain so many good deeds and merits, the Buddhist community in this world would dare to overturn the table and wage a head-on war against Yinshan.
Ultimately, Yan Xu underestimated his own uniqueness and the bronze door that could connect all the worlds.
But it's not his fault. He has been a mortal for two lifetimes and has only done a few minor things so far. Even if he is allowed to let his imagination run wild, there are limits to his imagination.
Just like the peasants thought that the emperor ate white flour buns all day and worked in the fields with a golden hoe, Yan Xu had no idea how terrifying the opportunity he had was.
