Chapter 58: Fellow Countryman Meets Fellow Countryman
The white Toyota Alpha was speeding on the highway.
Crow was driving, Yasha was sitting in the passenger seat, Gen Chisei and Eri were sitting in the most comfortable seats in the second row, and Yabuki Sakura, who was wearing a women's suit, was sitting in the last row with a laptop spread out in front of her.
"Eri, are you feeling okay?" asked Genjiro.
Erie took the small notebook from Gen Chisei's hand and wrote in Japanese carefully, making a rustling sound with her pencil on the notebook: "Daijōsō (It's okay)."
Judging from Eri's current physical signs, everything is still relatively normal, but it's unclear how long this normality will last.
Just like a piece of porcelain with a smooth surface but full of cracks inside, it may look perfect, but it may break into pieces with just the slightest touch.
"Estimate how long Eri's normal vital signs can last?" Gen Chisei asked Yabuki Sakura in Chinese.
"Judging from the current situation, it should be no problem to maintain it for about five days." Sakura Yabuki replied.
After hearing what Yabuki Sakura said, Gen Chisei's originally tense body relaxed a little. Ever since he set foot on this foreign land, his spirit had been in a highly tense state.
This was not entirely due to his inability to adapt to the unfamiliar environment, but more because he felt an inexplicable sense of fate from this sudden journey.
It was as if they were human figures on a classical stage, being led by invisible ropes to this area that they had long heard of but never set foot on.
He looked at Eri, who was leaning against the glass window, looking at the scenery outside curiously, her small feet in white tabi sticking out from under the skirt of her shrine maiden costume.
Several medical equipment cables extended from her shrine maiden costume and connected to Sakura Yabuki's laptop.
For Eri, who had been trapped in the headquarters of the Snake Eight Clan all year round, it was very rare for her to have such an opportunity to go out, let alone to a foreign country across the ocean.
Even a wisp of clouds in the sky outside the window is fresh and surprising to her.
Looking at Eri's curious back, Gen Chisei felt both grateful and worried that she had such an opportunity to go out.
Of course, more of it is still confusing.
This trip to China was completely unexpected. A listed company in this coastal provincial capital had business dealings with Genji Heavy Industries, and the Japanese side needed to send a representative to sign an agreement with the company.
Generally speaking, the other party's size is acceptable, but it is still far behind the international giant Genji Heavy Industries.
There is absolutely no need for the family to send me to China in person to coordinate. It would be more than enough to just send a middle-level cadre over.
But his father insisted that he come over and asked him to bring Eri along as well.
Gen Chisei totally couldn't understand what his father was thinking. Didn't he know how serious Eri's health condition was?
Obviously, he was the one who had been ordering Eri to stay at home.
The Toyota Alpha began to slow down and circled downward. The broad sea view of the cross-sea bridge suddenly disappeared. Eri removed her hand from the window and sat properly in her seat.
"How long will it take to get there?" Gen Chisei was worried that Eri's body couldn't handle the long ride.
"It should be here soon." said the crow.
The vehicle continued driving for a while, and suddenly a skyscraper came into view. It turned out that we had entered a CBD central area, and even the surrounding buildings became modern.
There are very few buildings this tall in Neon. The tallest one, Yokohama Landmark Tower, is only 70 stories above ground. Eri has only seen it on TV, so the moment the building appeared, it immediately attracted Eri's attention.
"Are we staying here tonight?" Eri wrote in the small notebook.
Gen Chisei smiled and responded: "Yes, does Eri like it?"
"I like it. It's very high here. Eri has never been this high before. I can see a lot of things."
Alpha stopped at the entrance of the Prens InterContinental Hotel.
Before the concierge at the door had time to walk down the steps to greet these distinguished guests, several black Lexus GX400s followed closely behind. Then, a group of men in suits got out of the Lexus cars and escorted the passengers in the Alpha out of the car.
The concierge had never seen such a scene before. It looked like the gangsters in a Hong Kong movie who came to cause trouble. He stood on the steps in a daze, not knowing whether he should go downstairs to greet the guests, or turn back to call security or the police.
Gen Chisei helped Eri out of the car, frowning. "I've told you many times, this is China, don't bring the Japanese way of doing things here."
"Got it, Boss." Crow and Yasha bowed to Yuan Zhisheng. Yasha turned around and scolded the men in suits who stood up in Japanese.
"I'm sorry to scare you." Yuan Zhisheng nodded to the concierge, "Could you park the car for us?"
Before the concierge could answer, Crow had already thrown the car keys to the concierge. Yabuki Sakura put away her notebook and ECG stickers and walked in front, while Gen Chisei escorted Eri into the door.
"I want to live in the highest place," Eri wrote.
Yuan Zhisheng smiled and nodded: "Okay."
……
Sakura Yabuki completed the check-in procedures at the front desk, and the others got into the sightseeing elevator first. As the elevator went straight up, every bit of the city gradually appeared before everyone's eyes.
"Ms. Sakura, what is that?" Eri showed the small notebook with words on it to Yabuki Sakura, then stretched out her finger and pointed somewhere outside the elevator.
Sakura Yabuki looked in the direction of Eri's finger and saw a park near the CBD center.
The facilities in the park looked ordinary: a few tree-lined avenues, two basketball courts, and a large open space with some unknown equipment installed. Many people were walking in it.
"Ms. Eri, that should be a park." Sakura Yabuki replied gently.
"Park? Neon too?"
"Yes, Ms. Eri."
Eri wrote, and replied in a neutral tone: "I haven't been there."
Sakura Yabuki was stunned. Looking at the neatly written cute handwriting in front of her, she suddenly felt a little sad.
Before she could think of how to respond to Eri, Eri wrote a new sentence in the notebook:
"Can we go to that park, Eri?"
This time, Eri's notebook was not shown to Yabuki Sakura, but to Gen Chisei. She knew that at home, only her brother's orders were effective.
Gen Chisei had just witnessed the entire conversation between Eri and Yabuki Sakura. Facing Eri's question at this moment, he just smiled lightly, stroked Eri's head lovingly, and said in an official tone like an adult:
"As long as Eriri behaves well these few days, Miss Sakura will allow you to go to the park for a stroll."
The elevator stopped on the 52nd floor.
A slim girl in a Japanese yukata was standing at the elevator door. Her pair of charming eyes widened for a moment, and she was obviously surprised that there were so many people in the elevator.
"Go up." Yuan Zhisheng reminded with a smile.
"I'm going up too." Jiude Mai smiled gently, walked into the elevator, pressed the button for the 86th floor, and then turned her back to the few people.
"Japanese?" Jude Mai asked in Japanese without turning her head.
Yuan Zhisheng hesitated for a moment and chose to answer in Japanese: "Yes."
"This city is different from the Imperial Capital and the Magic Capital. It's not easy to meet someone from your hometown." Jiude Mai's tone rose slightly, and her voice sounded like a lazy cat yawning.
She knew her limits and did not ask about the purpose of Yuan Zhisheng and his group.
After Jiude Mai finished speaking, the elevator suddenly fell into a brief silence, and no one spoke again until a "ding dong" sounded, breaking the quiet atmosphere in the elevator.
Jiude Mai twisted her waist and slowly walked out of the elevator, waving to Yuan Zhisheng and the others behind her: "See you again if we are lucky."
"Well, I hope we'll meet again." Yuan Zhisheng replied cheerfully.
