Chapter 44 Plan
At night, Li Yuanfang was guarding Liu Jin in the back hall when he heard the guards urgently report: "General Li, Lord Di wants to see you."
Li Yuanfang felt a little strange and didn't know what Di Renjie's intention was. He ordered the guards to guard Liu Jin and hurried to the lobby.
As soon as we entered the lobby, Di Renjie and Zhao Ji had been waiting for a long time with solemn expressions.
"Sir, what do you want me to do for you?" Li Yuanfang asked.
Di Renjie smiled and said, "There is an important matter."
"What's the important matter?" Li Yuanfang asked puzzledly.
"Deal with the viper." Zhao Ji said.
"Ah? Could it be that the master has discovered the trace of the viper?" Li Yuanfang was surprised and happy.
"It's not certain yet, so I asked you and Chengyuan to come here." Di Renjie said with a smile.
"Me and Chengyuan? What about General Hu? Does General Hu have some other mission?"
Li Yuanfang looked around and found that there were only Zhao Ji and Di Renjie.
After saying this, Zhao Ji looked at Di Renjie, and Di Renjie nodded.
Zhao Ji said, "Your Excellency suspects that General Tiger is Viper."
"What?" Li Yuanfang was stunned and couldn't believe it.
"How could it be possible? How could General Tiger be a viper?" Li Yuanfang couldn't accept this fact for a moment.
"This...this is impossible, right?"
Seeing Li Yuanfang's unbelievable expression, Zhao Ji took a step back: "My Lord only suspected General Hu, but did not say that General Hu was a traitor."
Di Renjie stroked his beard and gave Zhao Ji a cold look.
Among the people here, you are the one who most wants to prove Hu Jinghui's identity as a traitor.
However, Di Renjie did not point out Zhao Ji's mistake, saying, "We will know if he is a traitor after we give him a try."
Li Yuanfang nodded, barely calming down, and asked, "Then how do you plan to test it, sir?"
Di Renjie said with a slightly cold expression: "Liu Jin has been exposed now. Judging from his previous behavior, he will definitely follow in the footsteps of Zhao Chuanchen, the fake Fang Qian, and Wu Yizhi."
"You mean, they will silence Liu Jin?" Li Yuanfang said.
"Not bad." Di Renjie nodded.
"Then what do you want me to do?" Li Yuanfang asked.
"I want you to pretend to be injured and lure the snake out of its hole..." Di Renjie's eyes flashed with a gleam, and he revealed the plan in its entirety.
-
At about the same time, Di Renjie was conspiring with Zhao Ji and Li Yuanfang, and Hu Jinghui came to the ancient temple outside Youzhou city.
When Jin Mulan saw Hu Jinghui coming to see her every few days, she knew that something must have happened in the Governor's Mansion.
"What happened? Why do you want to see me again? Didn't you say that Di Renjie suspected you recently?"
"Liu Jin's identity has been exposed." Hu Jinghui said concisely.
"Ah? How could this happen? Didn't you say that Di Renjie trusted him?" Jin Mulan screamed.
"That was all a false impression created by Di Renjie. I was deceived by him."
Hu Jinghui shook his head and complained, "I told you long ago that this was too risky, but you just wouldn't listen."
Jin Mulan had no time to care about Hu Jinghui's complaints, and asked in a trembling voice: "Did Liu Jin say anything?"
Hu Jinghui sighed: "I haven't spoken yet."
"That's good." Jin Mulan breathed a sigh of relief and felt relieved.
"Aren't you in a hurry?" Hu Jinghui was surprised by Jin Mulan's reaction.
"I've said it before, Liu Jin is just a pawn. I sent him just to give it a try." Jin Mulan regained her composure.
"Even if Liu Jin was not exposed, Di Renjie might not necessarily hand over Youzhou to him. I have already thought of this. There is no need to rush." Jin Mulan explained.
Hu Jinghui looked a little worried. He thought that all the time he had been nervous, exhausted, and worried for so long was in vain.
Jin Mulan paced in the hall, assessing the situation and thinking about the next plan.
After a moment, she said with a fierce look in her eyes: "Although Liu Jin's exposure is not important to the overall situation, he is a hidden danger in Di Renjie's hands. He must be eliminated." Hu Jinghui was a little distracted. He recalled many of Di Renjie's previous remarks and actions.
Thinking of Di Renjie handing Liu Jin over to Li Yuanfang for custody, Hu Jinghui vaguely understood something.
Di Renjie had already been on guard against him, otherwise it would have been reasonable for him to hand Liu Jin over to the care of a General of the Guards who had a mission to accomplish.
Hu Jinghui realized the danger of his situation and raised his head suddenly: "Alan, why don't we give up? It's not too late to stop now."
"What did you say?!" Jin Mulan almost thought she had misheard for a moment.
"Can you say that again?"
Hu Jinghui repeated solemnly: "I said, let go, give up!"
Jin Mulan's stunned expression gradually turned into a frenzy: "Are you crazy? I have been working hard on this plan for many years, and I don't know how much effort I put in. Now it is about to succeed, and you want me to give up?"
Recalling the long conversation between Zhao Ji and Di Renjie during the day, Liu Jin's identity was inadvertently discovered. It was ridiculous that they thought everything was going smoothly.
This reminded Hu Jinghui of himself. Di Renjie did not show any doubt about him, but he felt that he was on the way.
"Di Renjie is not an ordinary person, and Zhao Ji is not an ordinary person either. They are too difficult to deal with." Hu Jinghui shook his head the more he thought about it.
Jin Mulan was about to cry, tears welled up in her eyes and she kept shaking her head.
"Ah Hui, you've changed. You used to be such a proud and confident person, but now..."
Dissatisfaction and grievance filled Jin Mulan's mind. She didn't understand why her lover of many years suddenly seemed like a different person.
Hu Jinghui still advised calmly: "I am still the same me, and my feelings for you have not changed. The reason why I persuade you to give up is also for your own good."
"Coward! Coward! I think you are scared by Di Renjie!" Jin Mulan broke down and cursed.
"Di Renjie has almost seen through your plan. If you don't give up your plan, you will hurt yourself sooner or later." Hu Jinghui warned.
Hearing Hu Jinghui still saying discouraging words, Jin Mulan was extremely angry.
She gnashed her teeth and said, "You coward, you wimp! You fear Di Renjie like a tiger, but I insist on fighting him. At worst, I can send Yu Feng!"
Hu Jinghui saw that Jin Mulan was showing signs of hysteria, sighed, said no more to her, and turned away.
"Where are you going?" Jin Mulan asked with a frown.
"I'll go back and get rid of Liu Jin and Li Er. Aren't you most concerned about Li Er's life or death?" Hu Jinghui stopped.
Killing Li Er is the only hope Hu Jinghui can think of.
Jin Mulan's expression improved a little after hearing this: "Okay... I'll wait for your good news."
Hu Jinghui remained noncommittal. He had already anticipated his own fate: "Promise me that if I die, you will abandon this plan."
Jin Mulan trembled all over and did not answer.
Hu Jinghui said in a deep voice: "I'm waiting for your answer."
"Okay, I promise you."
Hearing Jin Mulan's promise, Hu Jinghui strode out the door.
-
The night is shrouded, the wind is howling, the clouds are as dark as ink, and there are no stars or moon.
Something unexpected happened during the day, and Di Renjie issued a strict order. The patrols in the Governor's Mansion became tighter, and the footsteps of the guards rose and fell in the silent night.
In the back hall, candlelight flickered.
In the dim light, Liu Jin was restless and unable to sleep. He paced back and forth in the room, his heart full of worry.
Things have developed to this point, and he has no chance of survival on either side of Jin Mulan or Di Renjie.
Fang Qian already had a premonition that Jin Mulan would soon send someone to kill him.
Li Yuanfang was shocked to hear that Hu Jinghui was a traitor. He was in a bad mood and was upset by Liu Jinhuang. He said unhappily, "Behave yourself and stop walking around."
Liu Jin glanced at Li Yuanfang, sneered, and finally sat down.
However, at this moment, the candle in the room suddenly went out and a door was blown open by the wind.
