Chapter 6 Cause and Effect
Yu Zhiyuan pushed the door open and entered the room, and saw a man with a horse face sitting on the sofa, drinking water from a cup.
"Brother Damao, are you at home? Where is your sister-in-law?"
"She went back to her parents' home. She came back when I was in the countryside showing a movie. What's the matter? Do you want to talk to me? Sit down, sit down and talk."
"Do you have any mountain products or anything like that when you go to the countryside? I want to exchange some with you!"
"Here's the deal! I have a few pounds of wild mushrooms, a few pounds of pecans, and two dried rabbits. Do you want some?"
"Yes! I want some. How much do you think you can give me?"
"Five pounds of mushrooms, five pounds of walnuts, and a rabbit. Just give me two dollars."
"Okay. I'll go back and get the money." Yu Zhiyuan said as he got up and walked out.
He went to the yard, lit a cigarette and finished smoking it, then took out two dollars from the inside pocket of his shirt, knocked on the door and entered Xu Damao's house.
When I walked in, I saw two cloth bags and a dried rabbit wrapped in newspaper on the coffee table.
"Here's the money, thank you! I'll host a banquet to thank the three gentlemen later, and I'll invite you then! Thank you for all your hard work these past few days."
"This is as it should be. After all, we grew up together, so we can't be vague about this. Besides, when my aunt was here, I was very nice to me. You are being too frivolous."
"Of course I will treat you when the time comes! Please sit down, I will be back!" Yu Zhiyuan said as he stood up, picked up the things on the coffee table and turned to leave the room.
Xu Damao escorted Yu Zhiyuan out of the house and closed the door before muttering, "This aunt can still do things once she's gone! Haha."
Yu Zhiyuan went into the house and put the dried mushrooms and rabbit into the kitchen. After saying something to his wife, he went to the living room and started cracking walnuts with pliers.
When Yu Qiaoqiao saw her father cracking walnuts, she didn’t bother to settle the bill, got down from the chair, and squatted in front of her father, waiting to eat!
The father and daughter were eating and smashing food together, talking and laughing.
Listening to my daughter talking about what she had for lunch, what snacks her grandmother gave her, and what stories she heard.
Yu Zhiyuan felt that life was like this, what else could he ask for.
After each person ate a few walnuts, Yu Zhiyuan took out some old newspapers and put them on the square table. He poured out two pounds of walnuts from the cloth bag and wrapped them in newspapers.
"Dad, why are you wrapping it up?" Yu Qiaoqiao asked curiously as she followed behind him.
"Send it to your master tomorrow. Eating this is good for the brain for the old man." Yu Zhiyuan said as he went to the kitchen and brought out a handful of peanuts, wrapped them in newspaper and put them in the net bag.
Then he sat on a chair and taught Qiaoqiao to read while waiting for dinner.
After dinner, we cleared the table.
Yu Zhiyuan took out a pencil and a large piece of white paper and began to write and draw on the table.
When I finished painting and was about to wash my face, feet and go to bed, I heard crying from the other side!
When I got dressed and went out, I saw Yi Zhonghai also walked into the backyard.
Yu Zhiyuan called him "Uncle" and followed him to Liu Haizhong's house.
Yi Zhonghai knocked on the door and shouted, "Old Liu, what's going on? Why are you fighting so late at night? Open the door!"
The door was opened, and the second aunt greeted him while wiping her tears: "He is an uncle!"
Yu Zhiyuan followed Yi Zhonghai into the house and closed the door again!
Yi Zhonghai looked at Liu Haizhong: "What's wrong, Lao Liu? What did the child do wrong? It's so late at night!"
Liu Haizhong looked at Yi Zhonghai and Yu Zhiyuan and sat down on the stool next to him.
Yu Zhiyuan quickly helped Liu Guangtian up and told him to go back to the house to clean up!
Liu Haizhong looked at Liu Guangtian before speaking: "Our workshop director told me this afternoon that Guangqi and his wife are supporting the Third Front construction! They took the train to the southwest this afternoon."
After Liu Haizhong finished speaking, he sighed heavily.
"Guangqi is responding to the country's call to support the Third Front construction. It's a very honorable thing! Why are they fighting in broad daylight?"
"He responded to the country's construction, but he didn't tell his father. He left by car without informing his father and mother." After hearing what Liu Haizhong said, Yu Zhiyuan shook his head in his heart: "You hit your second son because you are angry? With this level of ideological awareness, you still want to dream of becoming an official? When you heard that your son went to support the third line, shouldn't you promote your son to support the country? Show how well you educated him? Why are you complaining?"
"The child probably left in a hurry and didn't have a chance to say hello to you! Okay, go to bed early, you have to go to work tomorrow. It's already broad daylight, don't take it out on him." Yi Zhonghai stood up and said, "Okay, I'm going to go back to sleep too, Lao Liu, you should go to bed early too!"
Yu Zhiyuan followed him out of the Liu family and said to Yi Zhonghai, "Uncle, you haven't heard about Liu Guangqi going to the Third Front?"
Yi Zhonghai looked at Yu Zhiyuan and shook his head: "You should go back to bed early too!"
Yu Zhiyuan was lying on the bed, still thinking, it turned out that the eldest son of the Liu family didn’t go home because he went to the third front!
But why didn't he want to stay in Beijing and why didn't he want to tell Liu Haizhong?
It gives me a headache just thinking about it.
It was also from this incident that the second and third sons of the Liu family began to suffer beatings at every turn, right?
Was it also from this time that the signs of parents being unkind and children being unfilial began to emerge?
It turns out that there is cause and effect!
No wonder none of them are reliable.
Yu Zhiyuan fell asleep in a daze as he was thinking.
In the early morning, Yu Zhiyuan got up quietly, and the mother and daughter tucked the quilt quietly again.
I turned on the flashlight and looked at the clock. It was not yet five o'clock and it was so dark outside that I could not see a thing!
He went into the kitchen, unplugged the small honeycomb coal stove, and replaced it with a new coal ball.
"Oh, the stove is too small, it's still cold."
"It's not even the coldest days of winter yet, how are we going to survive then?"
Yu Zhiyuan shook his head, washed his face, dressed warmly, and quietly walked out of the house. He went to the ear room to pack his things, climbed over the wall and headed towards the east gate.
I didn’t have the same luck as yesterday today. After spending all morning trying, I only made less than ten dollars.
I returned to the compound early and climbed over the wall back home.
Although all the neighbors go to Pigeon Market, it is better to keep a low profile. These days, anything can happen if you are too conspicuous.
As an ordinary citizen, it is better to be careful!
Yu Zhiyuan went into the house and cleaned himself up with hot water from the kettle. He baked two steamed buns left over from last night on the stove and ate them with boiled water and fried peanuts.
Seeing people walking in the yard, I knew the gate was open.
I went into the bedroom and told my wife that there were a few fish left in the kitchen.
Yu Zhiyuan packed his net bag and went out to the factory.
When he arrived at the gate, he saw Yan Bugui squatting at the door of his house brushing his teeth, so he greeted him.
I hurried to the factory gate and gave a few cigarettes to the guard in the message room, and we chatted about all sorts of things.
Yu Zhiyuan hurried to the dilapidated warehouse where discarded parts were stored in the northeast corner of the factory.
I plan to find some scrap parts here and make a furnace with three honeycombs placed vertically, two furnace covers, one large and one small in the front and back, and a large water sleeve at the smoke outlet of the furnace.
This way, there is hot water at any time, and the daughter-in-law doesn't have to use cold water to wash clothes and vegetables all day, which makes her hands red from the cold.
Yu Zhiyuan found a few pieces of scraps suitable for making small animal traps and piled them together.
When it's done, I'll send it to my father-in-law's house during my day off.
You have to try it first to know whether there are dates or not!
Put the things you need together, and use the space to put the things away when you see that there is no one around.
Yu Zhiyuan picked up another piece of scrap, walked to the door of the second workshop where he worked, and quietly put the things out.
Before starting work, go to Director Guo to explain the situation and get a certificate, then go to the finance department to pay the money.
Yu Zhiyuan would fish in the morning, go to work, complete his tasks in the afternoon, and then do his own private work at the operating table.
After all the parts were made, the master was asked to take me to the welding workshop to assemble the furnace.
