Chapter 15 The First Police Incident
"There's a place for batons next to the front door."
York saw that the baton Kino was wearing kept bumping and banging, and spoke calmly.
Hearing this, Kino looked in the direction York pointed out and soon saw two circles.
He realized it later and inserted the baton just right.
"This is the gun rack and the charger," York continued to point, pointing to some button seats above the rearview mirror and on the roof of the car.
"This is the alarm and light controller and lighting control. Please note that the switch is very powerful. It can cut off the brake lights and lighting on the entire vehicle. You will be responsible for these from now on. You should have learned about this in the police academy."
Kino nodded obediently. In fact, he had learned all these in the police academy.
Yorks turned on the tablet computer that looked like a center console and said calmly.
"The first thing you have to do when you get on the bus is log in to the computer, enter the serial number, and log in your personal number."
The car that was about to be scrapped was originally equipped with a laptop computer, but now it has been upgraded to a tablet computer, which is much more convenient. It not only makes it easier for police officers to operate, but the wider space can also accommodate more on-board equipment.
After turning on the tablet, York gestured, "You shouldn't have forgotten the serial number, right?"
Kino shook his head, looked at the tablet on the center console, reached out and clicked to start logging in.
Yorks looked at Keno's login like a real teacher and said calmly.
"Take one last look at yourself. You are about to walk into the street with a loaded gun. You have no idea what is going to happen next.
I need you to be mentally prepared and keep your emotions and rationality stable no matter what happens."
Yorks reached for the steering wheel and spoke the last words to Kino.
"do you understand?"
Feeling that York was very serious, Kino took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his expression became much more serious.
"understand!"
"But don't be too nervous." York chuckled.
"If anyone causes trouble, just give him a good kick in the ass!"
After saying that, York grabbed the steering wheel with his left hand, pushed the gear lever down with his right hand, and stepped on the accelerator.
"Now we start to work."
As soon as the words fell, the black and white Chevrolet Caprice roared and drove forward.
-
A black and white Chevrolet Caprice appeared at 30 West China Street.
"Commander, are we going to patrol like this?" Kino couldn't help but ask as he looked at the situation around him.
After coming out of the West Canyon Police Station, Yorks has been driving aimlessly, just driving around. He is not a policeman just to sit in the car.
"What do you want to do now?" York glanced at the anxious guy.
"Then tell me, what do you want to do now?"
Keno was suddenly at a loss for words.
Yorks reached into his pocket, pulled out a few banknotes and threw them over.
"Huh?" Kino was puzzled.
"Go, buy me a cup of hot coffee." York parked the car on the side of the street and pointed to the coffee shop outside the car window.
"If you want anything to drink, pay for it yourself."
Kino sighed, opened the car door reluctantly and got out, straightened his tactical belt that had slipped off, and trotted towards the coffee shop that York pointed to.
York leaned one hand on the car window, watching Kino run into the coffee shop and start ordering, and just smiled.
Although there are a lot of bad things happening in Los Angeles, they don’t happen all the time.
Their West Canyon Police Station is only a district, and the area they are responsible for is just this small area. It is impossible for them to receive police reports transferred from the dispatch center as soon as they come out.
As long as you find a way, park your car in a place with less safety or keep driving around, you can get by in a day. Just like Taribo, he got by day after day in this way. If he was not afraid of Olha's criticism, he would not even want to pay a ticket.
Thinking of this, York yawned as he saw Kino running over with a cup of coffee.
What he was looking for was an area that was busy and unsafe. Unfortunately, Kino had no vision. If he was the old Taribo, he would have kept complaining and blamed him for always looking for things to do.
York said as he took the hot coffee that Kino handed to him after he got on the bus.
"You don't want to drink?"
Jinuo shook his head: "I don't want to drink now."
"Okay." Yorks looked indifferent, too lazy to tell the rookie that the daily life of a patrolman was sometimes so boring.
After taking a sip of coffee, York pointed to the intersection ahead.
"Twelve o'clock direction, tell me, what do you see?"
"What's wrong?" Kino looked towards the twelve o'clock direction.
There is an intersection ahead. There is a traffic light on the lane, and the traffic is in an orderly manner. Pedestrians are walking back and forth in the intersection. The only thing that may cause trouble is a young man standing on the street wearing a hot dog one-piece doll costume, holding a sign advertising something and moving around in place.
But he didn't notice anything unusual.
"The one in the puppet costume?" Kino answered in a low voice, his voice a little hesitant.
"Is there a situation?"
York put the coffee in the middle slot and said calmly.
"He's wearing a hot dog doll costume for an ad, and look next to him. Is there a hot dog shop? In a case like this, he's either hiding contraband or preparing to do something suspicious."
Kino was stunned. He always felt that the reason was too far-fetched. In his opinion, the guy was just a poor man. He was wearing a puppet costume to advertise in such hot weather.
"You think it's far-fetched?" Yorks knew what Kino was thinking without even looking at him, and tapped his head.
“Don’t overestimate the brains of some people, and don’t try to understand their thinking. As long as there is profit, they can do anything stupid.”
Kino looked at the young man in the puppet costume at the intersection again, and for a moment he didn't know how to refute York.
Just then, a voice came from the police radio.
"10-Adam (two-man patrol unit)-11, Code 2-H, Breaking and Entering, 1430 Oak Blossom Street, the caller reported that her male neighbor attempted to break into her home without clothing."
This mechanical sound made Kino shudder all over and look at York.
He knew what Code 2-H meant: priority, urgent, requiring lights to be on but no sirens to be sounded.
York picked up the intercom connected to the radio and pressed the button.
"10-A-11, read it."
This is the police information transmitted by the dispatch center after screening and selecting the police cars that are currently without any tasks. He has no choice but to accept it or there is the risk of being fired. He also wants to improve his strength by the number of cases, or climb up from patrolman to the top and does not want to be fired.
"Now here comes something. Let me see your strength, Gino."
York glanced at Keno, who was breathing rapidly and had already pressed a button on the alarm and police light controller, and said calmly, then he pushed the gear lever and stepped on the accelerator to the bottom.
boom!
The Chevrolet Caprice rushed forward like an arrow.
"What the hell!"
Kino, who was pushed on the back, was startled and quickly grabbed the safety handrail on the door.
He opened his eyes wide and watched York turn the steering wheel, drift directly at the intersection and pass the young man in the hot dog doll costume at the intersection, and said in a daze.
"Then what should he do?"
Yorks looked calm, "We'll deal with it when we get back. Don't worry, it's just an illegal break-in, it will be solved quickly."
