Chapter 37 Do whatever you want
How did you get here? This sentence reveals a kind of innocence. Normally, a mature man would not use the word "la" and his voice would not be so childish.
But York spoke gently to the man sitting in front of the bar.
"Something happened, so I left work early."
Then he looked at the two people inside with different expressions and smiled.
"Can't I come over?"
Talia, the female employee at the bar, and Germain, the middle-aged man, are actually a real couple.
The two of them run the coffee shop together.
The couple called the police to report a robbery, and he, who was nearby, accepted the report. During the investigation and registration period, they gradually became familiar with each other.
What’s important is that the couple are good people and he likes to associate with good people.
"That's not what I meant. I just wondered why you came here so suddenly." Talia quickly propped herself up from the bar, glanced at the man who was still sitting outside the bar, shook her head and smiled.
"Yorks, are you here to see Rem?"
Rem, who was sitting outside the bar, looked straight at York: "York, you come to see me?"
Looking at Rem, York sighed inwardly, but a gentle smile appeared on his face, and he walked over and sat next to him:
"Yeah, I'm worried that you won't be able to adapt."
Rem didn't move his butt, but turned around and turned towards York in a very awkward posture like a top, with his eyes following York all the time. His every move and the clear eyes made people realize that there seemed to be something wrong with this man.
Yorks helped him adjust the stool and straightened his posture, then looked at the middle-aged man Germain standing at the bar and said a little embarrassedly:
"How is it? I don't think I have caused you any trouble, right?" He said, looking at Talia.
It was he who introduced Rem, so naturally he was worried about bringing trouble and burden to him.
Since Rem's intelligence level is only about eight years old, it can be considered to be about the same as that of a small child.
If Rem was just like this, he could probably arrange for Rem to stay in a welfare institution with good conditions.
What surprised him was that Rem, who only had the intelligence of an eight-year-old, actually had a daughter, Lucy, who just turned five years old.
The whole process was very bizarre. In his early years, Rem accidentally took in a homeless girl. In order to repay Rem, the homeless girl helped Rem give birth to Lucy and then disappeared without a trace.
This is very difficult to do.
Once he put Rem into a welfare institution, it would mean that Rem would be separated from his daughter Lucy.
Thinking back to Rem's feelings for his daughter Lucy, he believed that Rem would definitely not be willing.
That's why he introduced Rem here, to get out of the displaced state of constantly looking for part-time jobs, to work properly and earn money to support the children.
Lucy, who had just turned five, was introduced by him to a pretty good public kindergarten.
As for why he knew Rem, it’s a long story.
While patrolling the streets, he happened to see someone bullying and teasing the helpless Rem, so...
"No."
Germain and his wife Talia looked at each other and smiled.
"Rem did a great job and helped us a lot, probably because he had a lot of part-time jobs."
York was a little surprised and looked at Talia.
"Is what Germain said true?"
Talia smiled and nodded, "How about you sit over there and watch Rem's work?"
York looked at the stunned Rem, smiled and said, "Okay."
After saying that, York patted Rem's shoulder and pointed to an empty seat next to the French window: "Rem, I'll wait for you over there."
Rem nodded blankly. When he saw York get up and walk over, he wanted to get up and follow him, but was stopped by Germain.
"Wait a minute, Rem, York is our customer now. You need to bring him coffee and snacks later."
Rem said: "Is York our guest now?"
"Yes, he is our guest now."
Germain smiled and nodded. Seeing Rem stop in his original position, he began to get busy with his wife Talia.
The whole process was seen by York, who had already sat down. He couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
In his previous life, he was a rather selfish person. He had experienced a period where he was asked why you should help someone if it wasn't you who hit him, so he developed a style of keeping to himself.
But after traveling to this parallel world and suddenly having a new beginning, which was an outrageous thing, he quietly changed his mind.
Just follow your heart and do whatever you want to do without hesitation as long as you feel comfortable.
The moment Rem carefully brought his daughter Lucy to him and saw Rem happily introduce Lucy to his uncle York, he thought about helping the poor father and daughter to the best of his ability.
Just do it if you want to.
"It's all fine as long as I feel comfortable in my heart." Yorks narrowed his eyes as he looked at the prepared bar and Rem who was waiting obediently, and thought to himself.
-
West Canyon Police Department.
Olha walked in the aisle holding a document in his hand, nodded to the passing police officers, turned the corner and came to the door of an office.
His position was considered high in the entire West Canyon Police Department, but there was a superintendent above him.
Olha stopped in front of the office door and knocked gently. When he heard the sound of someone coming in, he turned the handle, opened the door and pushed it in.
The office that came into view was small but fully equipped. There was a window facing the door, and next to the window was a bookshelf with various books and documents. Moving the sight to the other side was an office desk and chair, where a middle-aged woman, probably in her forties, was sitting.
He was wearing a uniform and the badge on his collar showed his rank as police inspector.
"Olha, is there something wrong?" the middle-aged woman asked in surprise.
"Officer Star." Olha came up with the documents and placed them on the table.
"This is the mission report of Officer York and Officer Keno."
Star exclaimed, suddenly realizing, "Is this a support mission from the Anti-gang and Anti-drug Bureau?"
As she spoke, she asked curiously, “It seems that Officer York has done something big again.”
Olha pointed to the documents on the desk and said, "Take a look first."
Star raised an eyebrow, reached out to pick up the report on the desk and began to look through it. After a while, he made a clicking sound.
"What a magnificent performance. It was just an assist mission, and our dear Officer York killed four more people."
"Captain Star, for the sake of the physical and mental health of our police officers, we need to force them to undergo psychological counseling," Olha interrupted seriously.
"Psychological counseling work?" Sta stopped watching and looked up at Olha.
"As long as there is no problem with the Anti-gang and Anti-narcotics Division, Officer York will have no problem at all."
Olha stepped forward and said, "Captain Star, what I mean is that Officer Kino has just joined the company, and I think he really needs psychological counseling."
Star closed the document and said calmly, "Okay."
