Chapter 40 Mental Patient
"Do you know the owner inside?"
York looked at the low building in front of him and said calmly.
"I know him, officer." The construction worker replied in an obedient manner.
“This is Valeria’s home.”
The construction worker answered, still asking tentatively: "What happened, officer? Valeria is a good person, she wouldn't do anything bad."
Yorks didn't answer, but the recorder was on. He naturally had to investigate the matter thoroughly to avoid any incident after he left, which would be his fault.
He still wants to continue to break his limits and achieve his life goals, so he can't be fired.
"Someone called the police. The voice was not a woman's. Tell Valeria to come out. I want to know what happened." York gestured.
The construction worker was stunned for a moment, as if he suddenly understood something and had an expression of sudden enlightenment.
"Oh, okay, officer." But he still cooperated very well, left his work station and walked towards the wide open door of the low house in front of him.
"It looks like something really happened." Yorks noticed the construction worker's expression suddenly changed.
He looked at the construction worker who walked to the door, narrowed his eyes slightly, and said to Kino who was standing vigilantly beside him.
"No matter what time it is, you should always put your own life first. If someone like this knows the protagonist of the incident, you can let him explore the way first, and you don't need to ask him yourself."
Hearing this, Kino looked at the construction worker who was walking to the door of the squat house and shouting, and blinked.
"Valeria, there are police outside looking for you."
Following the construction workers' shouts, the person who came out was not Valeria as the construction workers had mentioned, but a very young man.
"Age approximately 176 years old, thin, cm tall, sportswear with no trace of weapons, not attending school"
After assessing the young man's general situation in an instant, Yorks stepped forward, waved his hand to let the construction worker leave, and asked the young man standing at the door.
"what happened?"
As he spoke, Yorks looked at the layout of the low building through the gap. The area was very small and there were all kinds of sundries, but everything that was necessary was there, and most importantly, there was no one inside.
"Someone here called the police. Was it you who called the police?"
The young man was obviously stunned for a moment, and smiled bitterly: "Officer, it's not me."
"Who is that?" Yorks asked. He saw the look on the young man's face, which showed that he knew the truth.
"I want you to be honest."
The young man sighed, "Officer, I think it was my brother Aleister who called the police."
York frowned. "What's going on? According to the report, the voice of the person who called the police seemed to be wrong."
"Officer, my brother has some problems with his brain, so I called the police." The young man pursed his lips and said seriously.
"Aleister has no idea what he's doing. I'm sorry, officer! I asked you to come all the way here."
However, Yorks saw the fatigue deep in the young man's eyes, and he subconsciously glanced at the young man in front of him.
"What's your name?"
Kamaisi answered obediently: "My name is Kamaisi, officer."
The young man's clothes had some marks and were quite badly worn. It seemed that he had been wearing them for a long time. I guess his family could only save money in other ways.
Considering that he was not in school at his age, York was silent for a while. He wanted to ask him something else and let the police come out to check. If there was no problem, he would let the family go. But just as he opened his mouth, a pleading voice suddenly came from upstairs.
"do not want!"
"Be alert!" York immediately pulled out the Colt M1873 that was registered at the police station, and forcefully pushed away Camus who was also begging.
York was very fast. He easily pushed Kames away with one hand and rushed to the stairs in the blink of an eye. Kino hurriedly followed him while drawing his gun.
Kamis, who was behind, sniffed and looked at York and Kino who had already gone upstairs, with a painful expression on his face, but he continued to follow Kino, and even his sports shorts that slipped down to his buttocks did not affect his movements.
Only the construction workers standing on the street outside looked dumbfounded.
"..."
"No! Aleister! I beg you!"
Hearing the pleading voice, York narrowed his eyes out of habit and rushed to the second floor in one breath.
What caught my eye in an instant was a small living room with clothes piled on the sofa and nothing else.
A middle-aged woman was revealed in a room connected to the living room. She was suspected to be Valeria mentioned by the construction worker, and pleading voices were coming from her.
She was wearing an ordinary white dress, with dark skin and a broad figure. She stood across the entrance, blocking his view, and her hands were stretched out as if to stop and block something.
Yorks walked over slowly and stopped slowly. The shift in his vision allowed him to know what the middle-aged woman was begging for and what she was blocking.
Standing in front of the middle-aged woman was a man of the same age as Kamis downstairs.
It could be Aleister, Kames's brother and the person who reported the case to the police.
He is about 180cm tall, and his figure is not much different from Kamis. But upon closer inspection, because of his height of 180cm, he appears thinner, like a chopstick.
What York was more concerned about was Aleister's mental state and the very sharp fruit knife in his hand.
He had very dark circles under his eyes and his face was pale. When the middle-aged woman tried to stop him, he became furious, with his eyes wide open, giving people a chilling look.
Having come into contact with people like Rem, Yorks knew that this kind of mental state was indeed not something a normal person could have.
Because of the family's apparent financial problems and the drug addicts they had seen, as well as what Kames downstairs said, Yorks eliminated the option of taking drugs.
"Step aside!"
At the same time, York, who appeared in the living room, was discovered by Aleister. He roared at the middle-aged woman in front of him with a ferocious face.
"Get out of my way!"
After confirming the information about the lack of firearms, York slowly put away his Colt M1873. Without firearms, he seemed quite strong and most people were no match for him.
"What's going on! Yorks!"
Kino also appeared at the stairs at this time. He looked at York who had put away his gun, and at the middle-aged woman who appeared in his sight. He walked over with a vigilant look on his face.
Because of the sound, Valeria, who was blocking the entrance, looked back, and Yorks saw a face full of sweat and anxiety.
The face showed signs of hard work, with wrinkles that were inconsistent with her age and skin color.
Seeing the pleading in her eyes, Yorks looked at Aleister who was holding a fruit knife with a ferocious face, and sighed in his heart.
"Put away your gun. I'm afraid you might fire it accidentally."
