Chapter 43: Suspicious Driver

Chapter 43: Suspicious Driver

After a while, the dispatch center responded, confirming that the driver was not a wanted criminal in the system and that there was no problem with his driver's license or vehicle registration.

"Got it!" Kino replied into the intercom, and began to hand the driver's license and vehicle registration card back to the driver. Then, he followed the procedure and began to write down the relevant reasons for the fine and the amount of the fine on the ticket book, then tore it off and handed it to the driver.

"Sir, this is your ticket. It lists your violation and the amount of the fine. All of this is done in accordance with the law. Please handle the fine in a timely manner. I have recorded it here. This is my police number. If you have any objections, you can go through the legal process."

The driver took the ticket without even looking at it, and just nodded to show that he understood:
"Okay, officer, can I go now?"

Kino subconsciously glanced at the situation in the car and nodded.

"you can go now."

After hearing this, the driver did not linger and quickly drove away under the watchful eyes of Kino and York.

"You did a good job." York said with narrowed eyes from behind.

"Have you forgotten? I did very well in the police academy." Kino closed the ticket book and said confidently.

"But, Yorks, you're right, it really feels good to give people a ticket."

York didn't say anything, just looked at the Toyota Camry that was about to disappear, then turned and walked towards the police car.

"We should go!"

Gino looked at York, whose movements suddenly sped up, and could only follow: "What's wrong?"

"You sit in the passenger seat." Yorks walked to the driver's door, opened the door and got in.

Sensing something was wrong, Kino quickly followed York's footsteps and sat in the passenger seat before realizing it belatedly.

"Is there something wrong with that driver?"

"Do you know why you have to touch the back of the car before you issue a ticket?" York fastened his seat belt, started the gear lever and stepped on the accelerator.

With a loud bang, the Chevrolet Caprice roared and rushed forward.

Kino was pushed on the back again. He quickly fastened his seat belt and instinctively grabbed the handle on the side of the car door with his right hand. He held his breath and spoke.

"I was just about to ask you."

"First, when there were no law enforcement recorders, your fingerprints and information could be left on the car to prevent the driver from escaping. This was to prevent the driver from choosing to escape when you got out of the car, refusing to admit that he had violated the rules, or after he shot you, so that we could find evidence." York's face was calm as he drove in the direction where the Toyota Camry disappeared.

Kino's pupils contracted.

"Secondly, it is important to check if there is anything wrong with the trunk of the car, whether it is closed tightly, whether there are people or victims inside, whether the car is turned off, and observe the situation inside the car immediately to know the number of people inside the car."

York said this and smiled as he watched the Toyota Camry disappear at the intersection.

The two sentences were spoken simply, and Jino licked his dry lips subconsciously.

“So there’s something wrong with the driver?”

"Well, I just found something under the trunk." York narrowed his eyes.

"If I'm not mistaken, it's a blood scab that hasn't been cleaned for a long time. What do you think is the situation that there is a blood scab in the trunk of the car?"

Gino's breath hitched, and he remembered why York had been observing the Toyota Camry.

"You're lucky." York glanced at Jino who was absorbing his words and said calmly. "Perhaps you'll encounter a big case. With the assistance of the Anti-gang and Anti-drug Bureau, you may be able to become a regular employee much faster than your peers."

Jino asked blankly, "What should we do next?"

"Let's follow the driver first and see where he lives." York said calmly, and he kept a distance behind the Toyota Camry. He controlled the distance and appeared at the intersection just when the Toyota Camry disappeared.

It's not too easy for him to follow the car.

Now he only needs to simulate the terrain, distance, and speed of the Toyota Camry in his mind to determine which direction the Toyota Camry is going.

So much so that when Keno felt he had lost the car, he could see the Toyota Camry that had just disappeared in the distance when he turned at the intersection.

This miraculous car-following technique made Keno look at York's calm face from time to time. He was full of admiration in his heart. He wanted to ask something but felt that the time was not right.

Just when he couldn't bear to ask any more questions, York turned the steering wheel and drove into a quiet community, interrupting Gino's rhythm and speaking calmly:

"He should live here."

Kino could only give up and look forward.

The street was quiet and empty, with only the sound of the falling leaves of the red maple trees that served as street trees.

American red maple, one of the most popular street trees, has leaf colors that change with the seasons, from green in spring to yellow in autumn, mixed with red or orange.

There are single-family villas on both sides, which is very different from the houses seen on Alva Street before. This is a roughly mid-range community.

As the distance got closer, Jino could see that the Toyota Camry was parked on the street in front of a house.

The driver, who was in good shape and about 1.80 meters tall, was opening the door and walking into the house, disappearing from sight.

"York, can we judge that there is something wrong with this driver just by looking at the marks under the trunk?" Kino hesitated.

"What if the driver accidentally cut his hand while moving something? And..."

York reset the gear lever, stepped on the brake and stopped the car on the street at the intersection. He watched the driver enter the house and then looked at Kino, continuing what he had not yet said.

"And what if what I touched wasn't blood? Is that what you want to talk about?"

Kino was momentarily at a loss for words, and it was obvious that this was what he meant.

Yorks didn't say anything. He could understand that Kino was still too inexperienced since he had just started.

But what Kino didn't know was that when someone kills someone, his temperament feels different. This might be the legendary murderous aura.

Of course, his judgment is not based solely on his sixth sense or intuition, but on the results of observation and analysis.

Because there were traces of cleaning on the rear of the Toyota Camry, when he observed it, he felt that this Toyota Camry was really clean.

After cleaning, there were still a few traces of blood and scabs left, which was enough to judge in another direction.

Blood stains are marks that can be washed off a surface, especially if the surface is cleaned and disinfected, and usually leave no visible marks.

However, here comes the important part. If the bloodstain stays on the object for a long time or the amount of bloodstain is large, it would be very difficult for ordinary people to remove all traces by cleaning without the help and assistance of some equipment.

Especially the trunk of the car, which has gaps that allow blood to flow in, once it dries.
