Chapter 81 New Squadron and Decision
Gregory glanced at the traitor who was still smiling happily after betraying him, and subconsciously looked at the waiter who didn't care. He sighed helplessly and picked up a piece of foie gras with a fork:
"I have a family to support, and a meal here can pay for several days of my salary!"
"Let's split the bill. You're not the only one who gets the benefit." Chris smiled and said, not caring at all. "The food here is good. I think it's OK."
York nodded to the waitress who had already placed the food on the table. After she bowed and left, he picked up the knife and fork in front of him and fiddled with the foie gras dish in front of him.
"Eat as much as you want. You don't have to pay for tonight."
Seeing the resentful look on Gregory's face, he really couldn't bring himself to do it. The cost of supporting a family compared to someone who hasn't yet started a family is as different as heaven and earth. There is no comparison at all.
This is true whether in the previous life or in this parallel world.
Gregory and Chris looked at each other, and a smile finally appeared on his face. He swallowed the foie gras in his mouth and looked at York who was fiddling with the food.
"What I'm curious about is, what on earth did he do to provoke you?"
Chris, who was also relieved, looked at York and said, "To be honest, I'm curious too."
York picked up a small piece of foie gras with his right hand. He knew what the two meant.
“He asked me if I had any family.”
It doesn't matter if everyone knows that it was a homicide or that he was a corrupt cop. He just wants everyone to know the whole process and the reason why he took action. The switch is something like this.
Once you want to investigate, everyone will know the main reason why he took action in the end.
If such things accumulate, they will become a deterrent.
As for the rest, he didn't care much. Being kicked out of the Los Angeles Police Department didn't mean he couldn't survive.
If all else fails, he can just go somewhere else and continue working. He had heard about a colleague who was involved in illegal activities. After being complained about, he was only compensated with some money and nothing happened. Instead, he was transferred to another state to continue working.
This is for him. If someone uses this to attack his family, it would be a fantasy. Which family doesn't have some black spots? For someone like him who deliberately stays out, what he does will not affect the Sheffield family behind him at all.
The Sheffield family itself is an invisible behemoth.
Speaking calmly, Yorks put the foie gras into his mouth. The light sweetness and the rich aroma of the liver blended perfectly and exploded in his mouth. Whenever he comes to a French restaurant for dinner, he must order foie gras dishes.
"Okay, I understand." Gregory just fiddled with the food on the plate in front of him.
"I went to a scene today. The murderer didn't leave any traces. He only left me a disgusting corpse. To be honest, the best thing about being a detective is that it gives me such a big heart."
When talking about what happened today, Gregory's face was not affected at all by the disgusting corpse. Instead, he ate with great relish.
Even Chrissie is like this.
"What a coincidence, me too." York put down his knife and fork, picked up the napkin and wiped his mouth.
"The deceased was mauled to death by his two Dogo Argentinos while he was sleeping. It was a tragic death. It makes me afraid to keep dogs anymore."
Gregory said, "No wonder I heard those noises when I called you today."
"The Dogo Argentino is energetic and needs a lot of exercise. It has high requirements for exercise and venue. If its requirements are not met, it will become irritable. I think he did not meet the exercise indicators of the Dogo Argentino."
Chris said as she glanced at York who had also calmed down.
"Sergeant York, you don't want to continue patrolling the main road, do you?"
Yorks raised his eyebrows slightly, and his mind was moved: "What's going on recently? Even you are talking about it, is it possible that the bureau has some plans for you this time?"
In the case of Greg Gray and Chris, they belong to the first squadron of the homicide department, and they cooperate with other squadrons to be responsible for their own cases.
Gregory is the deputy captain of the first squadron, which is equivalent to the duties of a detective. Above him is the squadron captain at the level of police inspector, who directly manages an entire squadron.
This position is quite high, higher than Olha who is in charge of the patrol department of the precinct station, and only lower than the chief of police or superintendent who is in charge of the entire homicide division.
"Because of the recent frequent murders, we may have to add a new squadron." Gregory suddenly said this, looking at the surprised York seriously. "And I have now applied for the training of police inspector and am preparing for the written test."
Hearing this, York finally understood what was going on recently. He was silent for a moment and said, "So, you might become the captain of this new squadron?"
Gregory nodded: "It's very likely. I'm the only one in the bureau who has the qualifications right now."
"Chris, what about you?" York looked at Chris and asked.
Chris said calmly: "As his assistant, I will naturally be transferred over."
Gregory said seriously: "Come here, York! We can build this new team from scratch together!"
What a new department needs most is talent, and he highly recognizes York's talents and abilities.
Looking at the expressions of the two men, York sighed: "You two really know how to give me problems."
Gregory said, "When it comes to solving difficult problems, we are still not as good as you."
Chris nodded in approval.
At 8:30 in the evening, Yorks, Gregory and Chris separated from Maxim's restaurant and returned home.
Controlling the F150 Raptor into the raised garage, Yorks got out of the car and looked back at the automatic shutter door that was slowly closing. He couldn't help but think of what happened tonight.
Now he finally understood why Olha suddenly raised this point with him. It turned out that the Homicide Division of the Detective Bureau was going to add a new squadron recently.
He knew a lot of detectives, but his best relationships were with Gregory and Chris from the Homicide Division, and Archiedo from the Anti-Drug Division.
"No wonder, this is obviously a series of chain reactions." York's eyes became deep.
He thought more deeply, but in the end York returned to the most basic consideration, which was where to go.
Obviously, if you really want to go somewhere, going to a place with someone to protect you is naturally the best choice.
But in the final analysis, the Anti-gang and Anti-narcotics Division is not actually suitable for him, because the timeline for the Anti-gang and Anti-narcotics Division to solve a case is longer than that of the Homicide Division, and it takes a very long time.
Like the previous case of Susani, Aqido followed it for a long time before he compiled so much reliable information.
Therefore, the Anti-gang and Anti-drug Bureau is naturally not suitable for his system.
"It seems that if I want to move up to the next level, the Homicide Division is the only suitable job for me." Yorks muttered to himself and walked towards the door leading to the front yard of the house. He had made a decision in his mind.
The next day, it was time to rest for the shift change.
Yorks wanted Yodifa to come out, but unfortunately, he didn't know what happened to her recently and she went on a business trip to Quantico, Virginia to study, which made him feel very sorry.
"Okay, let me know when you get back."
Yorks was lying on the big sofa in the living room, talking on the phone. When Tifa responded with a "bo" sound, he hung up.
But he still felt something was wrong when he looked at the phone. Based on his understanding of Tifa, she seemed to have no connection with Quantico, Virginia.
"Forget it, I don't want to think about it anymore. I'll go shoot some targets." Yorks didn't think it through for a moment, and he was too lazy to think about it deeply. After all, everyone has his or her own life, and he doesn't like to influence or interfere with other people's lives.
Only when there is mutual respect, will others respect you, just as Tifa, who has always been chaste, does not mind his past.
The f150 raptor drove out of the private garage. Yorks controlled the car with one hand, picked up his mobile phone and called Keno, waiting for him to answer.
"Come out and let me see the results of your practice."
